Here's my situation: I'm typing this in a public library on a computer with OS windows 2000 server. I can run Internet explorer, word, excel and powerpoint, that's it. Maybe java, but it seems to be flaky. I want to run python scripts from this computer. At home I have a multi-computer network (from better times) but no internet access anymore, I could use this to try out solutions. I also have access to a friends computer which has...

Hi everyone, Let's see, now. This question is about the capabilities of ANSI C++. I want to write and compile code in ANSI C++ that, when compiled, will make the computer speaker beep; or, at least, SHOULD make the computer speaker beep. I know that whether the computer speaker actually beeps or not is largely dependent on the OS I'm using. But I'm not so much concerned about that (at this stage). I just want to know if ANSI C++...

Hello, I am having a problem where my computer is freezing when I run a ASP.net project. It freezes in the debugger, or if I try to run it as localhost. I cannot even access the windows Taskbar, or anything. I have to power off my computer. It is a brand new machine, XP Pro, VS.NET 2003. Other Notes:

I've created a new ASP.NET application. When I preview my aspx webpage in VS.NET 2003, it will freeze my machine. Not every time. Sometimes on the first preview, sometimes on the forth. Any programs I have open can't be closed. The only thing responsive is the mouse. I have to turn of my computer. Using WinXP Pro. Any idea what may be causing this? Thanks, Brett

For the past month or so, while working with VB.net, as I use the mouse to either move a control or resize it, the mouse cursor will freeze sometimes. This happens from several times a day to once every two or three days. I have had this happen very, very rarely with other programs. I have tried different types of mice, updated the video driver, etc. to no avail. The most recent occurrence occurred with only Internet Explorer and...

I'm using Outlook Express as a database. Yeah, I know! I have thousands of entries on it. My computer will now only work for a couple of minutes before everything FREEZES. I need to get that OE info onto a laptop or the new computer that I will buy this week. I have searched numerous sites on how to copy or backup OE but I'm afraid the PC won't be active long enough to do anything before the freeze.

Hi everyone- I have built a simple map navigation system where a user can move around a map, and I have set limits on how far the user can drag an image around. What I'd like to be able to do is if the image is dragged to it's edge, I'd like to freeze the mouse cursor if the user tries to move it any further while the mouse button is down. I don't just want to freeze the image, because what happens is the image freezes and the user...

Just recently my desktop PC freezes about 5 minutes after starting. The ctrl alt del keys dont work and the only way to restart it is by using the reset button or the mains switch. After doing this the PC then runs normally for as long as it is in use. I am running Windows XP and use Kaspersky Internet Security version 8. This PC is only 4 months old and did not have this problem when first purchased. I have also noticed recently that it...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
