Hello,
We're developing our own small installation application in C#. At the end
of the installation, we need to reboot the computer. Does anyone know how
to write some C# code to programmatically reboot the computer? (Note: The
computer will be Win2k, WinXP, or Win2k3, nothing else.)
Thanks.

Hello,
I am having a problem where my computer is freezing when I run a ASP.net
project. It freezes in the debugger, or if I try to run it as localhost. I
cannot even access the windows Taskbar, or anything. I have to power off my
computer.
It is a brand new machine, XP Pro, VS.NET 2003.

Dear All,
I have upgraded and application I developed on VB6 which uses the
Mscomm1 component and reads from COM1 port data send, then sends these
records to a table in SQL 2000. I upgraded the application to VB.Net windows
form to use the try catch method of trapping errors, the form runs smoothly
but after about 10 minutes the form freezes without raising any error.
Any hints will be useful.

I'm running this on a 2.8 GHz machine with 1.5 GB RAM. (XP machine)
The full suite of VS.NET is installed. I'm running 7.1.3088
Professional Edition.
Initial launch from within IDE took only seconds, but my system froze
almost immediately, and required reboot.
Now, launching from within the IDE is very slow -- 5 minutes -- with
CPU usage maxed out the entire time. And once application is running,
the system goes weird -- task bar...

Hi!
For a few months we suffer mysterious problem with Oracle 10g RAC (more
details on server configuration at the bottom). At regular basis (every 5
minutes) nodes of our cluster "freeze" - during couple of seconds
operating system for some mysterious reason does nothing - as far as we're
concerned - in userspace. Every single userspace process stops for this
period. After a few seconds system comes back to life and all suspended...

I am using the Microsoft.XMLHTTP object to make server requests ie;
ajax. This is working 99% of the time but occasionally it will freeze
at the server for 5 minutes and then raise a javascript exception
"Unknown name".
After the exception I can run the same request ok, and keep doing so
until the next time it freezes for 5 minutes.
What does the "Unknown name" javascript exception mean?

I'm using Outlook Express as a database.
Yeah, I know!
I have thousands of entries on it.
My computer will now only work for a couple of minutes before everything FREEZES.
I need to get that OE info onto a laptop or the new computer that I will buy this week.
I have searched numerous sites on how to copy or backup OE but I'm afraid the PC won't be active long enough to do anything before the freeze.

Interesting article I came across on Slashdot:
http://developers.slashdot.org/developers/08/07/10/213211.shtml
They are using C at JPL to program Mars Lander and just about
everything now! Not Ada. Anyone got an explanation? I wonder also, do
they really mean C++ when they say C. In my experience, this is a
frequent, although disagreeable usage.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
