When placing a workstation on a domain for the first time, you lose all desktop setting. Is there a way to save these and then recall after logging into the domain?

Hello, I created and worked on my application on my desktop and copied it to my laptop. After putting in many additions to the functionality on the Laptop version, I copied it back to my desktop. Nothing was changed on the desktop in respect of the configuration but I now get an error which I am unable to fix. I have a statement "Set cat = New ADOX.Catalog" This statement is

Hi, I`m in the process of migrating a Access 2002 (Run in 2000 mode) from Windows 98 to Win2K Server. It is a shared resource via a file share on the 98 Server. Client systems are Win98 with the shared drive mounted and the application run via the shared drive. I have tried once before, but came across some file locking issues. I thought i had addressed these file locking issues, but it came apparent I hadn't when data started to get...

Hi I'm a Java developer moving to windows only applications. Of course the first thing I thought was "well at least, without the VM now I can write desktop applications that run real fast". So I was happily heading to refresh my C++ memory and learn MFC when I ran into this on Wikipedia: ".... applications written in Managed C++ have automatic garbage collection and will run via the .NET virtual machine, just as applications written...

I am using a type lib in a project and it work great. Problem is, when I move the TLB file, VB (in vs.net 2003) does not allow me to register the moved file as a reference. I have to use the one I placed originally - which is a problem since it is on my desktop and not in a source controllable area. What's the secret to moving type libs? Thanks;

Hi all Would anyone be able to offer any unbiased thoughts or advice on reasons to switch to .Net. I have read some of the literature and read other stuff on google, but a so much of it seems to be wrapped up in marketing speak I'm not sure I fully understand what it actually does better. So before we move from VB6 to DOT NET, I am trying to weigh up the pro's and cons of each. The stuff we use VB6 for is pretty simple compared to what...

Had an idea and wondered if it is possible at all. Dim Idea1 as New Idea Idea.show() ("I would like to have a spot on a Form, a box of some sort, that if you were to drag a file or folder on to the spot.... it would move that file to a pre-specified folder. I would like to specify the folder in my code so that the user could not change the dir. Example: The program opens and it creates a folder on the desktop called 'Program Name,' then...

Hi Everyone, I work for a financial company. I am planning to give a presentation to rest of the development team (15 people) here on moving server side logic to client-side javascript for an internal intranet application rewrite. This approach will definitely stir up hot debate from hardcore server-side Java folks who wants to do UI stuff even on the server!. Since I am pretty much known as the JS or UI Guy of the group, my Boss...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
