(Bob, Ray, Aaron, Curt and others) would mind offering advice on ideal
laptop requrements for web development requirements.
I currently use an IBM Thinkpad G40 with 2.99 Ghz processor Pentium IV and 1

I have experienced some problems with total operations (sum, min, max, avg
etc) in pivot tables nad pivot charts in .mde.
In .mdb I can activate any totals operation. on both notebook and desktop
PC. When I create .mde on the notebook, I can use totals on laptop, but not
on the desktop PC. I just can't switch on any total. There is no total
operation in the menu... If I create .mde on the desktop PC then it
works....In both cases it is...

I've recently noticed that there seems to be some font size differences
(I'm guessing) in pages being viewed in FF 1.5 on my laptop which
causes the whole layout to fall apart. You can see this page here:
http://www.behealthy.com/healthy.cfm and look at the login section.
The login boxes should be side-by-side but they're not when I view the
page on my laptop. It looks fine on my desktop. I don't have this
problem when I look at these...

I am trying to learn PHP and was reading the book by Laura Welling and
Luke Thompson. Obviously, PHP is already installed on a server when
hosted by an ISP already. Is there a way to just download PHP 5 onto my
laptop as well as MYSQL and practice learning it with coding and
scripts, etc.? I don't have another machine to install Apache or IIS.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to convert a legacy rs232 application to vb2005. The
legacy app was written in pascal and runs in full DOS. I have
successfully rewrote the app to communicate with the device using
SerialPort component in .NET 2.0. It works wonderful with a desktop
PC.
When I installed the program to the laptop it fails, though the
original DOS app works in the same configuration. Somehow, the data is

Hi, I'm having a network problem I'm hoping I can resolve (and a few questions.)
Currently I have a desktop with XP Pro on it. I just purchased a laptop with Vista, and wanted to network it with the desktop. For some reason, the desktop can locate and access the laptop, but the laptop cannot locate or even see the desktop. They're both in the same work group and network, and all the sharing permissions are turned on, as far as I can tell.

Hi - I just bought an Asus laptop with wireless capabilities. I have a desktop that I've used for years that is hooked up to Cox cable for high speed internet through a Motorola SG5120 cable modem. The modem is ethernet / USB compatible, but it currently hooks to my desktop with a USB cable.
I bought a Linksys wireless router last night and tried to install. The first problem was that I couldn't hook the USB cable from the desktop...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
