I must not be understanding something about the use of forms in VB.Net that
is different from VB. I have one form running in the background with an icon
in the task bar. Right clicking on the icon gives you a list of options, one
of which is to show an About form. After this form shows I get an error
saying "Object reference not set to an instance of the object." I have tried
opening the form with
frmAbout.Show
frmAbout.ShowDialog

I'm trying to create a windows explorer like app and the problem I'm having
is getting the proper icon for the folders and items.
In windows explorer there are many different icons and most seem to be in
the shell32.dll. The problem is that there also seems to be custom icons
that are installed by applications.
For example, "My Music" In My Documents has an icon that is different from
the normal folders. I have installed an application...

I am developing a Payroll Program.
I would like the Startup Form of the Program to show an image/icon representing an employee with the actual name of an employee under it or by its side just like you see icons on the desktop of Windows operating system when you power up your PC.
The image/icon will be the same for all the employees. The only thing that diffrentiates one image/icon from the other is the name of an actual employee that is...

I recently scanned a document and saved to desktop. as i did the save all
the desktop icons disappeared, including the scanned dociment.
The all reside in the desktop folder inc' the scanned doc. My

screen is no longer interactive. I have no icons, mouse click left or right

I'm using Windows XP. Sometimes when I log on to my user, the icons on my desktop will appear as soon as the blue "Loading your personal settings" screen is done and I can start running programs right away, but most of the time I have to wait a long time before they appear, and if I try running programs before they do, I usually freeze up my computer. I get an error message that says something like "Windows could not locate My Documents. Try...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
