Missing icons

I use Xp home SP2.

I recently scanned a document and saved to desktop. as i did the save all
the desktop icons disappeared, inc luding the scanned dociment.

The all reside in the desktop folder inc' the scanned doc. My
screen(desktop) shows XP's lovely sky and countyside and nothing else. The
screen is no longer interactive. I have no icons, mouse click left or right
or both does nothing.

I have opened the desktop folder and tried to drag & drop, copy and paste
the icons from the folder to the desktop, no go. when the icon gets to the
desktop it changes to a stop sign. I have tried everything I know and cannot
put the icons on my desktop.
My Pc seems perfectly ok in every respect.

Any suggestions please....... BrianK

Ok. I want to settle this once and for all. After looking at the source for various, rather sizeable (but not all were so big) web sites that use icons that show up in the addressbar beside the address itself. Just about all websites that use said icons use one of these two methods (some use both even) to make them appear (in the code of a webpage.) : <LINK REL="icon" HREF="/icon.ico" TYPE="image/ico"> <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON"...

Hi all, I hope this isn't a symptom of something more serious, but when I start Visual studio 2003, the icons that used to be shown underneath "installed products from the visual studio family" are now missing and there's just an empty space. Is there a fix for this? Thanks Andrew

I have an application (.exe) that is running in the system tray. When a message arrives: the icon in the system tray is to change so that the user knows a message has arrived. My question is: how can I deploy .ico files with an application? I would like to just send the people the .exe file and they can run that on their computer. Is this possible? What code would I need to ensure this? This works locally on my machine, but I...

Relatively new to dotnet so bear with me if this is obvious. In the course of my career, I've assembled a collection of icons to use with my apps. Most of these are 32x32, 256 or 16x16, 16. In VS6, I could assign the same icon to forms and the application. VS would squish or stretch icons as needed for title bars, desktops, etc. In VS2003, I'm having no luck. I import an icon into the editor. Right clicking outside the image shows...

List... I am a new student in vb who is attempting to install the software on my machine. In working through some programming examples it references icons which should be found in the Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio ..NET/Common7/Graphics/Icons directory. I do not have the Graphics directory in my install...and of course no Icons subdirectory either. I have redone this install three times with the same results. Questions: Is...

i'm trying to embed multiple program icons in my executable. the only way so far i managed to do that is to embed native win32 resource file with multiple icons. it works, but... when i create a native win32 resource file with the VS 2005 and put there my icons, VS always converts some of the 32bit icons into 24bit - so i loose alpha blending what makes my icons look ugly. I did an experiment and created a icon file with full range of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
