Maybe he has a shortcut to his VS and cannot see the icon anymore ;-]

Ah okay, in that case hit Windows key + D to show your desktop, right-mouse
click your desktop. Select "Arrange Icons by" and make sure that "Show
Desktop Icons" is checked.

:-D

OK, it's not the least bit related to .NET, but what you might have
done is accidentally clicked the "Show Desktop" icon. Try clicking it
again and see if your files come backinto view. You may also want to go
into Settings, Control Panel, Display, and go to the Desktop tab,
Customize Desktop, then the Web tab, and make sure you have no web page
displayed there. Turning off Active Desktop sometimes makes your icons
and files come back correctly.

I just reinstalled windows and seem to remember being able to check 'view desktop as web' but haven't the faintest clue where it is now. I've searched desktop properties and gone through the control panel to no avail. Am I blind? I hate desktop and menu icons as web icons. I may go insane. Please help.
