As some of you may know from my previous posts I am trying to set up an internet page on our intranet that contains logoff/shutdown and restart buttons. This needs to work in a remote desktop situation which rules out various options. Anyway I found an application called shutdown.exe (http://www.budja.com/shutdown/) that does work in a remote desktop environment. Next stage is to call this .exe from a webpage...which I'm struggling...

Hey Recently, I researched using C++ for game programming and here is what I found: C++ game developers spend a lot of their time debugging corrupted memory. Few, if any, compilers offer completely safe modes. Unsurprisingly, there is a very high failure rate among projects using C++ for modern game development.

Has anyone ever managed to read a Windows registry key in a PHP webpage? I installed the PHP extension win32std and saved their sample script from http://wildphp.free.fr/wiki/doku.php?id=win32std:index#registry_access as a webpage. However when I open the webpage (PHP 5.1.2, Windows Server 2003, IIS 6) I get the error message "Warning: Can't open registry key: The operation completed successfully." OK...Don't ask why - it'll just make ya mad. It makes me mad just thinking about it. I swear....if I didn't need this job, I'd tell 'em where to embed their webbrowser control. But, since I do need it, here are my questions... Can I embed an IE activex control in a webpage? I basically would like to be able to embed the same component used to create IE-based browsers into a webpage. Since IE is already on Windows PCs already, would...

Hi all, This is a long shot, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask... I have some applications that work fine when I run them on my PC at work, but "fail to initialize (0x000005)" when I'm attached to that PC from home via Remote Desktop. These applications are all console apps written in native C++. The common thread (at this point I've done no serious investigation) seems to be that they all call into a C++/CLI library that, in...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
