List of KNOWN VS2005/Vista issues.......

(I know this is a great big newsgroup no-no, but I originally only posted to
microsoft.publi c.dotnet.genera l and that newsgroup doesn't seem to have near
the readership of these - so I thought I'd also post this info here for the
benefit of the greater dotnet programming community.)

Well, after looking at this list, I'm thinking of staying with XP/VS2005 for
a while longer. At least until SP2 is out and Vista has been burped a few
times.

Here's the link to the list of KNOWN woes that await MS developers on Vista.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa964140.aspx

And don't forget to review
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobu...tasupport.mspx for the SQL
Server 2005 / Vista KNOWN issues also.

Is there any wonder fewer and fewer people are choosing programming as a
career?

Can you provide a link to page describing what it fixes for .NET C#
programmer?
I could only find fixes for C++.
The only list I found was of the VC++ bugs. That was published on the VC++
team bolg.

This is because there are only fixes for VC++ and the IDE not for C#, note that C# is only a
very small part of VS.

http://blogs.msdn.com/ericnel/archive/2006/10/17/top-level-technologies-products-not-supported-on-windows-vista.aspx are MS really saying that they do not have a development enviropnment for Vista that will be supported and work out of the box, with no warnings or requirements to disable bits of th o/s from day one? What do we get from Vista besides yet another learning curve, hasle and different bugs to resolve? Guy

I tried installing my VS2005 Pro on Vista Ultimate 32 bit RTM today and got errors stating that VS2005 was not compatible with Vista. Microsoft......please pull your finger out of my ass and tell me this is a joke. It must be a joke....because I also have read that VS2002 and VS2003 will not be supported on Vista. This clearly violates Microsoft's own terms of support for these products.

I have a rather complex commercial Acc2003 application (tab controls, 50K+ lines of VBA code, etc.) that will not run well at all on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have seen posts indicating that Acc2003 MDBs should work on Vista. However, our particular file has too many problems to be viable on a Vista platform. Even converting it to an Acc2007 accdb file has no positive effect. I realize that Vista is new and should be avoided like the...

I install Visual Studio 2005 Pro on Vista. I open and migrate a 2003 web project to 2005. I attempt to browse an aspx file from the Solution Exploer. It displays a blank html page. I create a master page with 3 content placeholders. I create a WebForm that uses the master and then browse it to have a look. I get an empty html page. I change from the IIS to the internal server. No change. Only displays blank page.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
