Anyone using Vista with VS2005 SP1 or 2003?

Just wondering if anyone is using Vista with Visual Studio.net 2005 SP1.
Are you have any issues? Any advice or does it run fine? I'm thinking of
installing Vista on my development machine...

Also, how about VS.NET 2003 and Vista?

Thanks...

I'm not risking it until the fabled "patch" is released, probably towards
the end of next month...

Visual Studio.NET 2005 + SP1 + "the patch" will be the earliest version of
Visual Studio.NET to be officially supported by Microsoft for running on any
version of Vista, so draw your own conclusions...

I am using VS2005 SP 1 (plus the Vista upgrade for it). No issues so far.

I didn't think the patch for SP1 was released yet...

Did you get it from MSDN Download...?

I used Beta Patch:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

They aren't so "beta" since it doesn't mean it would be beta quality, only
that it doesn't contain all fixes (all those it contains are already 100%
tested).

Thanks - I'll take a look.

OK. I have a VirtualPC guest running Vista Business for evaluation purposes,
so I'll install the patch on that and see what happens.

I'm not in any great hurry to move to Vista, though...

VS2003 is not and will not be supported under Vista. Not sure what will or
won't work or if it will even install, but your best bet with VS2003 is to
run it under VPC.

I am running VS2005 under Vista without issue.

VS 2005 ran fine on Vista from day 1 for me, even before I installed the
patch. VS 2003 I understand can be installed, but some issues may arise.

http://blogs.msdn.com/ericnel/archive/2006/10/17/top-level-technologies-products-not-supported-on-windows-vista.aspx are MS really saying that they do not have a development enviropnment for Vista that will be supported and work out of the box, with no warnings or requirements to disable bits of th o/s from day one? What do we get from Vista besides yet another learning curve, hasle and different bugs to resolve? Guy

I tried installing my VS2005 Pro on Vista Ultimate 32 bit RTM today and got errors stating that VS2005 was not compatible with Vista. Microsoft......please pull your finger out of my ass and tell me this is a joke. It must be a joke....because I also have read that VS2002 and VS2003 will not be supported on Vista. This clearly violates Microsoft's own terms of support for these products.

First of all, I tried installing VS2005 Pro on Vista Ultimate 32 bit RTM and Vista told me that VS2005 was not compatible with Vista. How the hell can that happen? I thought one of the main ideas of .Net was portability. Then, when I looked around some more, I saw that VS2002 and VS2003 will NOT be supported on Vista. What the hell? That violates Microsoft's own terms of support for both of those products! It is clear that...

(I know this is a great big newsgroup no-no, but I originally only posted to microsoft.public.dotnet.general and that newsgroup doesn't seem to have near the readership of these - so I thought I'd also post this info here for the benefit of the greater dotnet programming community.) Well, after looking at this list, I'm thinking of staying with XP/VS2005 for a while longer. At least until SP2 is out and Vista has been burped a few...

Ok i just went from XP Professional to Vista Ultimate x64 last night. I installed vs 2005, sp1, and the update for sp1 for vista. I started up VS2005 and still got the warning message that deals with compatability of Vista & VS2005 which i was suprised. I would think after the update for sp1 for vista would have taken care of that but i guess not but anyways i digress. Part of the error message and the page its linked to says you should...

I've got code that works when started normally (explorer, command whatever) but fails when started from VS2003. It crashes in different place when started with debugging (F5) and other place when started without debugging ( CTRL+F5). The same code works correctly on W2K/W2K3/XP. All modules are C++ code. The Visual Studio 2003 must be currently used due to 3rd party libraries. It has the SP1 installed.

I've installed VS2005 + SP1 + SP1 Vista Update on Premier Home version of Vista. I have my DPI cranked up to 120. As a result, the icons on the VS2005 toolbar are totally fuzzy. It's obvious that VS2005 is scaling up icons. Is there a way to disable icon scaling? There is a similar issue with Office 2007 on Windows XP with high DPI and there used to be an identical issue with Office 2003 as well (...

I am an ASP.NET (VB.NET) web developer, using MS Visual Studio. I'm thinking of switching over to MAC. I was wondering if anyone is using Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 beta in a XP or Vista environment on their Mac? If so, any wierd issues, or does it run smoothly (even with Mac OS running)? Also, is it really a TRUE Windows environment?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
