Survey: Enterprise Architecture and Software Development

Several prominent researchers are conducting a survey and looking for
500 respondents by Friday on the topic of enterprise architecture and
software development. Here is the link to the survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=845572436515

After completing the survey, results are displayed immediately. A small
donation will be made to a charitable organization after its
completion.

I've got a better idea. A couple of not so prominent usenet people are
getting tired of those that don't read group charters and spam us.

How about you apologize for the spam, read the charters, and then repost
where appropriate.

Several prominent researchers? Who are they? Names and contact info. please.

How small a donation? What charitable organization?

This post has all of the markings of a scam.

Questionable, the OP might be 13 years old or this is just a lame
attempt to fire of a solid flame war? Taking the groups used to
cross-post into account the later seems reasonable:

comp.os.linux.m isc,microsoft.p ublic.dotnet.ge neral,
comp.databases. oracle.server,c omp.databases.m s-sqlserver

[..]
9. What is your primary IDE?
Other
PowerPoint
At least this one had a somehow funny sound. ;-)

Now it is just up to us if we let the OP succeed with trying to
start a flamewar or just ignore him...

We've been developing a web site using 3-tier architecture for 18 months now. There is a common layer that defines the classes - using XML schemas. The data layer acts as a wrapper to 3 databases - SQL Server, Oracle and AS400. The business layer exposes web services which communicate with the front end, ASP.Net. All 3 tiers are on different boxes. This works well. Now I am leading a team to build a winforms app. I need some advice as

This may not be a direct C# question, but since I'll be using using C# for development, I thought I'd pose the question here. I'll soon be involved in the design of a new software product that will employ a software "Plug-In" architecture. Taking the plug-in route will give us a design that can adapt to, as yet, undefined future requirements (within the scope of the plug-in interface spec of course). In the past I've done this with...

Dear software practitioners, consultants, and researchers, we are currently conducting an international survey about architecture and design patterns. Our goal is to discover how familiar people are with these patterns (and anti-patterns) as well as to elicit the information need, the usage behavior, and the experience of software organizations regarding architecture patterns and design patterns.

Outsourcing is often closely related to offshoring in software development, but you can outsource onshore and you can create offshore subsidiaries. This seems to be the current trend for large occidental organisation that want to profit for lower costs in countries like India, but maintain a high control on the process. However, developers in Europe or North America feel no differences if their Asian "competitor" work for a subsidiary or...

Greetings all, I would like to create a list, for an upcoming OINK-PUG presentation on TDD & BDD in PHP, of open source PHP applications that are well covered with unit and functional tests. Ideally, I would like to run the test suite of one such application at some point during the presentation. It matters not to me what testing framework is used.

If you are involved in the development of scientific computing software, you are invited to participate in a survey on developing this kind of software. If you have already received this request, I apologize for the cross-posting, but I am attempting to advertise to as many developers as possible. I would appreciate it if you could take 20-30 minutes to complete this questionnaire. If you know others involved in the development of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
