Grail (python web browser)

Does anybody know where I can download a WORKING version of the Grail web browser? The one at http://grail.sourcefor ge.com/ has so many errors and exceptions in it that I cannot possibly fix them all (although I managed to fix two of them; I was able to fix just enough so that it was able to display text files and very simple HTML files, instead of crashing before showing the window).

My operating system is windows, and I am using Python 2.4 made by ActiveState. I want to edit the GUI of Grail slightly so that I can use it as a UI for some of my programs. The wx.htmlWindow doesn't support any sort of forms, and wx.IEhtmlWindow looks terrible, and only works on windows.

wx 2.7 came out this month. I haven't gotten it yet. If you haven't yet, I'd check that out as this seems like a natural update.

I found this by google "python.org cheese shop grail". there are others.

PS "Grail" was a web browser written in Python (or an attempt at one).

[1] It's mostly useless but I trust wholy.graal will be downloaded by
millions.

I've been looking for a Tk widget to render basic HTML (as a simple way of building formatted text documents)...... Short of implementing a parser myself that would only ever cover a very small subset of HTML I wondered if it would be possible to resurrect part of the grail project for the job. (I don't want to switch over to wx just yet before anyone suggests it). I think viewer.py is where I need to be looking - when I try to just...

Is there any emerging consensus on the "best" UI for toolkit. Tk never quite made it but from what I can see, both qt and wxWin are both doing fairly well in general. I'm already aware of the licensing issues surrounding qt (fwiw, I think their license fee for commercial use is eminently reasonable), so aside from that, I was wondering if there was any feedback readers could provide on the following: 1) Which plays best with Python?...

Hi everyone, I'm creating a desktop Python application that requires web-based authentication for accessing additional application features. HTTP GET is really simple. HTTP POST is not (at least for me anyway) ;) I have tried a few different sources, but I cannot get HTTP POST to successfully log in. I can login using FireFox at

Hi Spent the past week looking at CSS renderings of "liquid" 3-column pages (with both Header and Footer that can also grow). On testing, none of them seem fully cross-browser campatible. In almost all of them, the left column seems fixed. Page doesn't grow when content added to header. When it does, the header overlaps the top of the columns.

I have noticed that the python-mode for Emacs that comes with the latest Ubuntu is missing the class browser. Moreover if works differently from the python-mode I was used to (for instance CTRL-c-c works as CTRL-c-! whereas CTRL-c-! is missing, etc). How can I go back to the old python-mode or at least how do I get back the class browser? Michele Simionato

Looking at various Holy Grail techniques for html layouts, I came across Faux Positioning Layout. What I'm curious about is the differences between the two. I have no understanding of the Holy Grail, but have a working implementation of Faux Positioning (which may be a bit harder to do than the Holy Grail). Both are compatible among various browsers, but are they really both the same thing? They both have negative margin-left css values,...

As anyone knows, the state of Python GUI programming is a little fractured at this time, with many toolkits, wrappers and meta-wrappers dead and alive, with or without documentation. I've come across two projects that have the appeal of striving for simple, pythonic APIs: PyGUI and wax. The latter is a wrapper around wxPython. It is lacking documentation but actually quite usable and concise. The other, PyGUI, has an even nicer API and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
