When creating new files for Projects in vs.net, I will get these weird
backtick double quotation characters, which will routinely cause errors
pointing to the characters when running:
<xs:schema id=”Books” xmlns=””
..is there something in some sort of Preferences area that I can
eliminate these inside vs.net, or why are they automatically thrown in?

I'm dynamically building a table in the code behind and I'm having a problem
with an extra space after the tablerow. The HTML renders like this:
<td>
<a href="#"><img src="mypicture1.bmp" border="0" /></a>
</td>
<td>
<a href="#"><img src="mypicture2.bmp" border="0" /></a>
</td>

Hello,
I searched all through Google Groups, Google, and the Postgres docs, but
to no avail. I hope someone can help me out here!
I have a file that contains SQL, and some Postgres-specific slash commands.
This file calls an external shell script via the backtick mechanism, and
saves the value into a psql variable, for latter insertion into a table. It
looks something like this:

hello -
first, let me state that i am an Asp.Net rookie.
here is the situation:
i have a page that looks good in the vs.net designer, but when the page
renders there are extra amounts (vertically) of space between controls. i
have all of the controls in a table, to help line them up, and I have
reviewed the html to verify that there are no extra spaces or paragraphs or
breaks between the controls. however, when i run the web site,...

Hi experts,
I'm trying to write a program that replaces two or more consecutive
blanks in a string by a single blank.
Here's what I did:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#define MAX 80

Using ASP.net 1.1 to create user input form.
When I put a RequiredFieldValidator I have extra space at the bottom of the
cell, as if I had put a <br>.
When I comment out the RequiredFieldValidator, the extra space goes away.
Don't want that extra space, but want the validator.
What can I do?

Some months ago, I'd asked this group:
"Backtick, at-sign, dollar-sign: legal in source?"
I got 20 replies, most of which were off-topic and did not
answer the question.
Keith Thompson provided the only direct, on-topic reply.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
