keyboard and mouse work for a few seconds at start up then freeze

-windows xp
-dell dimension 9150
The computer starts normally, loads up the blue login screen. I can move the
cursor around the screen and type on keyboard. Then after roughly 3 seconds
(always this amount of time) the cursor freezes, the mouse inoperable and the
keyboard locks up at the same time (num lock light goes out). I have to
manually restart.

I can boot to safe mode and both the mouse and key board work perfectly.

Yesterday I intalled a Microsoft Wireless Laser mouse 6000 and it worked
perfectly all day, this morning the problem occureed.

I have unistalled, then reinstalled the mouse driver, updated the mouse
driver, no joy.

Please can some one offer me some help.

Thanks in advance.

When I was in boy scouts, as part of learning Morse code, I was told that the inventor of the typewriter originally put the letter 'e' under the left middle finger, just below its present position. The typist was often too fast and the print bars would jam. I heard the same story when I took a typing class. This led me to wonder if 't' might have been moved from the home row for the same reason. 'E is dit and T is dash, under middle...

Hi! I've developed an application, and I want to use a semi opac form to show the help. The idea is to show the transparent help form on top (TopMost = True)and still be able to work with the application underneath. By setting CausesValidation = False, it ignores keyboard action so thats OK, but it still hooks the mouse clicks. Does anybody know how to disasble the mouse hook in the form? (Or other work around?) Have messed around with...

Hi all, There are hundreds of posts on usenet to do something similar to what I want but either they do not work or are no good for me. Here is my problem: I have a form which covers the entire window. Therefore the start button is not available for clicking. However, you can activate the button using the windows key on the keyboard. What I want to do is entirely lock the keyboard so that any input is ignored until i say so.

I'm buidling some simple macro functionality for my app so the users can record a sequence of keyboard inputs and replay them reliably via some menu. Originally, I used: protected override bool ProcessCmdKey(ref Message msg, Keys keyData) To map "Keys" objects to their string constant, and stored them on a string Queue as they were happening. Then (after resetting the form), I simulate replaying of these actions by flushing the queued...

Does anyone know how to get rid of excess mouse clicks? I have a button that does some code which takes some time to execute. As soon as the user clicks the button, I disable the button in the button handler and enable it again when I exit the handler. However, if the user clicks a bunch of times, say 10, during the time it's disabled and executing for the first time, it will start to process the second mouse click the moment the button...

Hi everyone- I have built a simple map navigation system where a user can move around a map, and I have set limits on how far the user can drag an image around. What I'd like to be able to do is if the image is dragged to it's edge, I'd like to freeze the mouse cursor if the user tries to move it any further while the mouse button is down. I don't just want to freeze the image, because what happens is the image freezes and the user...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
