minimalising certain blocks on your page (and saving those settings in a cookie)

hi,

i'm new to this newsgroup, so: hi, to everyone involved!
i'm currently searching for a script like the one used on all the daughter
sites of pagina.nl (ie.: http://jazz.pagina.nl ) ... on those pages you have
several blocks which you can minimalise and maximilise so you can choose
which blocks you wanna see or not ... (i need something similar for the
www.beyondjazz.net community i'm hosting). also the settings (which blocks
are open? which should appear small on the bottom of the page?) should be
saved into a cookie or so ...
i've tried searching the source code of the jazz.pagina.nl page, but there
are so much scripts in there i don't really see which parts i need and which
i don't ... so i thought some of you might now a javascript source website
where such a script is available for download, with a demo and so on ...

thanks!

peace,
jurriaan

Hi, I want to be able to come up with some way of navigating around a system that allows me to save certain screen info (Say combo box setting) so that when returning to the screen from a link on another screen it remembers the screen settings as they were. Using javascript can obviously be messy as I found Session variables could be overkill since different screens have potentially different

I'm having trouble with PHP & PostgreSQL/OpenLDAP/Apache on Windows. I've set this up countless times on BSD (piece of cake) but I'm trying to do this on Windows now so that my developer can work on her local machine. Everything looks pretty good. OpenLDAP/cygwin works great. PostgreSQL works great. Apache runs. PHP runs. But when I try to connect to my PostgreSQL server using PHPPgAdmin, I

I'm using about 30 blocks with links on my page, that can be opened or closed by users so they're able to select which links should be displayed on their 'personal' page. Just closing blocks for the first time works fine, but returning visitors that want to open or close a new block, lose their first setting, everything in the cookie is replaced. I use this code, anyone got an idea? I spent days figuring it out! It drives me crazy!

I have a log file that is viewed on the local machine. There are some settings on the html page that allow the user to specify how the file is viewed. I'm just wnodering what are my options in saving these settings (so they could be reloaded next time the user loads the page). Writing to registry, a file, or a cookie? what's the right approach?

I have a username/sid pair for typical authentication. That is, for someone signing in under a given username, a sid is created, saved in both a cookie and the db on the server. This I am doing as follows: $timer = md5(time()); $sid = $UserID . "+" . $timer. "+" . $country; SetCookie("ggcookie", $sid, time() + 86400 * 10000); //Set Cookie for 10000 days $query = "update associates set sid=\"$timer\" where username=\"$UserID\"";

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
