IE and third party cookie!

Hi all,

I'm totally new to 3rd party cookies!

1)would one please tell me what they are?

2)how to make IE to detect them?

3)how can I trick IE or FF not to see them? (if possible!)

or hide them by javascript?

4) any good online resource about them in regards to javascript?
thanks

Some sites, especially hacker sites and sex sites, sometimes will
redirect you to another site that will put cookies on your computer,
often without your knowledge.
2)how to make IE to detect them?
If you have IE6, find the tools tab at the top of the page. Select
internet options from the dropdown. Then select privacy. There is a
slider for low to high security that will allow different types of
cookies to be set or not set as described there. There is also an
advanced setting if you do not like the combination on the easy-to-use
slider. There are also several browsers that are just slight
modifications of IE6. For instance, on the SBC/Yahoo DSL browser, you
will find a settings tab at the top of the page that will allow you to
select internet options as was done on the basic IE6 browser.
3)how can I trick IE or FF not to see them? (if possible!)
On your own computer, just change the settings as described above - no
tricks required. If you mean to do something with the code on the web
page viewed to overcome the setting of cookies as selected by the
browser user, this is not possible in general because of security
considerations. It might be possible for a very good hacker to do
something of the sort, but you can be certain that Microsoft will
release a critical security update to overcome the hack as soon as they
find out about it.
or hide them by javascript?
Why would one want to, except for hacking, when the browser user needs
to be free to select security-privacy settings that meets their
personal needs?
4) any good online resource about them in regards to javascript?
Script often is used to set cookies. If you have something more
specific, someone here likely can answer you. However, the
security-privacy settings on the viewing browser will determine if the
cookies will be allowed to be set.

Hi, I just changed my browser settings to override automatic cookie handling and block all third party cookies. Now I'm curious. How are third party cookies allowed in the first place? I thought only the domain of the web site visited could store and retrieve cookies? -dc

Please give suggestion how to avoid "enable cookies" message.

Hi, I have a third party software that needs to send information to an .aspx page for processing to communicate with an SQL database. The software sends the information something like this: Mypage.aspx?Password=Mypassword When this request hits the page, I need to pull that variable Mypassword to use in my VB function to query the database. I'm confused on how to get it. I tried using

First, a question. Is there a way to keep VS.NET from red lining elements from third party controls with an error message that says 'the active schema does not support the element ****'? Doesn't Microsoft know that there are third party custom controls out there? It would be nice to have intellisense for third party controls' elements and properties as well. I am looking to get a suite of third party asp.net controls. Getting a...

Does anyone have any documentation on compact privacy policy and asp.net session or http session cookies. I have a third party app that relies on a session cookie to maintain the state of my app in a users site. Currently my P3P policy is causing IE6 to reject my third party session cookie. I have my P3P working and do not collect personal info, add headers

Howdy all, I'm improving an existing application that's partly written using Python and the standard library. Many of the improvements I want to make can be done by using third-party free software. The immediate customer for this application is happy to install Python on their machine, but I'd like to remove the hassle of asking them to continually install new versions of great third-party Python software that isn't packaged for their...

I am developing a large application with Visual Studio .NET 2003 using C#. We recently added a new third party product with a native .NET library. I want to place this third party product's dll in a VS Project of its own, and then reference that project from those c# projects in my solution that are dependent on the third party product. I created a c# class library project, ThirdPartyDll. Placed the dll file in question into that...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
