Enterprise Manager wants to dial in to the Internet when I try to open
up table design, and if I cancel the dial-in, the MMC window is simply
blank -- no table design editing.
This is rather miserable -- how do I fix this?

Can I open an embedded object frame (OLE Class: WordPad)
from an OPEN form, launching WordPad to edit the text contents,
close WordPad & have the changed docment SHOW UP in the
embedded object frame on the open form after having made the
edit? If I can, I'd like to launch the process on click of a button
on the form. Any cut 'n paste code that'd kind-a-fit my needs
would be appreciated. All suggestions are appreciated. I'll have

Access 2000
I have a text field named RoadName that contains the total road name,
for
example, "Johnson Road". I have another text field named StreetName
that I would like to just contain the name portion of the RoadName, in
this case,
just "Johnson". Is there a way to either remove the Road portion from
text
strings in the RoadName field, so that I am just left with "Johnson"?

My code as an txt attachment.
I have 2 drop down list boxes that on selection populate text boxes
from my database table. I am able to display the correct values in
these text boxes.
I have 2 questions:
1) I would like the user update these text fields that get populated
with data from the database. For some reason I get the error when I
change the textbox value.

I am filling text boxes from a data reader. That works
fine. If I edit a text box to a different value and
click a save button the orginal value that was edited is
being used in the SQL string. I verified this through
debugging.
Does anyone know of a reason why the original values are
being perserved? The text boxes are not set to read only.
Thanks.

What's easiest way to replace a particular text string in
a text file by another and save the modified file?
Currently I know how to open a file, read the text
string, place it in a variable, and modify the string.
What I'd like to know is how to save the modified string
in the same file.
The alternative that's I'm trying to avoid is to create a
temporary auxiliary file in the process.

I want to delete the first line of a text file but it seems like a waste to
read in the entire file into memory, remove the line, and then write it out
again. Is there a way in VB.NET to delete the first line without reading in
the entire file and recreating it?

Hi all--
In an attempt to commit an Access MDB to a versioning system (subversion),
I'm trying to figure out how to convert a jet table's metadata to text, a
la SaveAsText. The end goal is to be able to build an MDB completely from
the svn repository text files.
Has anybody dealt with this?
Thanks in advance,

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
