Can't edit table design in Enterprise Manager without dialing in to internet! :(

Enterprise Manager wants to dial in to the Internet when I try to open
up table design, and if I cancel the dial-in, the MMC window is simply
blank -- no table design editing.

This is rather miserable -- how do I fix this?

I am attempting to connect to a remote default instance of SQL Server 2k on Win2k using Enterprise Manager from my local host but receive a "SQL Server registration failed, timeout expired" error message each time. I am able to connect using Query Analyzer when specifying the IP address of the server (I am also specifying the IP address in my Enterprise Manager connection), am able to ping the server from the command line, and am able...

I have Enterprise Manager on my local machine. For the last twelve months it has been connecting without problem to my online SQL Server database provided by my ISP. Three weeks ago the ISP applied some sort of extra security arrangements to their SQL Server to allow access only through port 1433. they have told me to configure an alias using Network Client and to register this alias in the usual way using my Enterprise Manager. My...

Anyone have any reason why I can open a table in SQL Enterprise manager, return all rows, and edit the record set, but when I go in through an ADP, connect to the database, and try to edit the same table, it tells me that the table is read only. What gives? There are other tables in this database that I'm able to modify just fine. -B

Hi, When I click on the properties of a linked server, all the General properties are read - only, which means that if I want to edit any general properties I have to delete the linked server and recreate it. Needless to say this is a pain. Is this by design or some kind of bug? Is there a workaround? Thanks

I created a stored procedure to update a table on a linked server from a table in my local server. Both servers are SQL 7, and the linked server is accessed through the Internet. When I tried to create the stored procedure using an Access 2000 ADP file, the save command would continually time out. However, when I went into Enterprise Manager and created the stored procedure there, it saved instantly. Once the SP was saved, it could be run...

access xp, sql server 2000. Just converted entire database to sql and keeping access front end. Problem is only with one table. inserting a new record works fine. If I go back to that record to enter in more data I get a write conflict error. If I try to delete the record I get a jet database engine stopped because me and someone else is attempting to change the data. No one else is in the database.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
