Hello,
I am creating a databse with a large number of text (or blob?)
entries. I want users to be able to search these fields.
An example would be a forum or journal. Indexing every word in the
post seems costly. If I have 100,000 posts over a few months, and each
one has 50 words in it, that is a 500,000 match entries. The databse I
will be creating will be even larger. For longer posts, there is a
huge overhead of dozens of INSERT...

I have seen the technique where a number of rows in a database are
displayed in an html table so that each column of each row is
editable. They use a single form surrounding the table, where each
field in any given column has the same control name. So for example,
in the last_name column, every row in the table would contain an input
field (of type "text") with the name "last_name".
Is this safe to do? I know that multiple radio...

Hello,
Does anyone know where I can find an ASP server side script written in
JavaScript to parse text fields from a form method='POST' using
enctype='multipart/form-data'? I'd also like it to parse the filename.
<form name='form1' method='POST' enctype='multipart/form-data'
action='sub.asp'>
<input type='text' name='title1' value='value1'>
<input type='file' name='file1'>

Access 2000
I have a text field named RoadName that contains the total road name,
for
example, "Johnson Road". I have another text field named StreetName
that I would like to just contain the name portion of the RoadName, in
this case,
just "Johnson". Is there a way to either remove the Road portion from
text
strings in the RoadName field, so that I am just left with "Johnson"?

My code as an txt attachment.
I have 2 drop down list boxes that on selection populate text boxes
from my database table. I am able to display the correct values in
these text boxes.
I have 2 questions:
1) I would like the user update these text fields that get populated
with data from the database. For some reason I get the error when I
change the textbox value.

I have posted a couple times on here already and found the user community to
be very helpful. I took on a project before I realized how difficult a time
I'm having working with a database. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I am trying to allow certain users to be able to preview a database's
contents without being able to update which I've accomplished. I've created a
"Preview" button and set the datagrid to READ ONLY. Now I want...

Hi all!
After a very long struggle I finally succeded in transferring my old
*.dbf file and the relating *.dbt (alias memo fields) to a pg table.
For the time being I put the memo field in a separate table having two
fields only (i.e.: n_memo integer, memo text) which can be related to
the main table in a view.

When creating an msAccess db within the Access UI itself the fields that are
text are NOT padded with blanks. For example, if I have a 10 char field and
put in "HI" and then when I come back to the field and click my mouse on it
the cursor is just after the "I" in "HI"... that is, no blanks were added
to the field. However, when I create an MDB database programatically in
VB.Net using ADOX and create the tables using SQL stmts (ie:...

As we all know, there is a 8060 bytes size limit on SQL Server rows. I
have a table which requires a number of text fields (5 or 6). Each of
these text fields should support a max of 4000 characters. We currently
store the data in varchar columns, which worked fine untill our
appetite for text fields increased to the current requirement of 5, 6
fields of 4000 characters size. I am given to review a design, which
esentially suggests moving...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
