For the last year, I've been using a 3 column div with header layou using overflow scroll to simulate frames. At 1024X768 and greater everything works well. But, at 800x600 on a 14" monitor, it look pretty junky. For a while now I've ignored it, seeing that percentag of users using that configuration shrinking, but I'd like to fix it b loading a separate stylesheet for users at 800x600 and below. Does anyone have a script, or can point...

does anyone know if WinXP by default uses 'Cleartype' or 'Standard'. i noticed that using 'standard' all font-families (except sans-serif) are NOT anti-aliassed, while with 'cleartype' everything is anti-aliassed. This behaviour appears not to depend on the browser used. i think this 'cleartype' thing was introduced with winxp, or was it already included in older version of windows ?? gr martin

Hi, Is there any way to specify which monitor a Window.open() will launch a new browser window in on systems with more than one display. It would only need to work with Mozilla browsers, and not IE. Thanks!

Hi, I've been looking for a good Trace message monitoring tool to monitor trace messages (through System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine() etc). I need it to collect traces from non-EXE code (esp. WebParts). Can anyone recommend a good tool for my purpose? Many thanks in advance.

I'm writing a plug-in in VB.NET to a an application called DesktopSidebar for Windows. Right clicking my plug-in's "panel" gives shows among other things a Properties Dialog. All I need to do is pop up the dialog in the proper place. After quite a bit of trial and error I came up with this: Declare Function GetWindowRect Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Int32, ByRef lpRect As RECT) As Int32 Public Structure RECT

I'd like to write a programme that runs on a PC with two monitors. The application would be used in a shop, with one monitor for shop assistant and the other for the customer. The two must show things independently, so the application can display certains things on one monitor (eg goods in the store) and certain other things on the other monitor (eg details of a certain product). Is this possible?

Hi, We have recently deployed a new home-grown PHP intranet application that we have developed and have ran into some performance problems. We are not sure if it is the webserver or the database's fault. Are there any good tools out there that can monitor a live production PHP site and give a good trace (SQL calls, HTTP calls etc.)? - Oren

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
