Hi,
I've been messing around with a personal website for a while now, and
having totally bust my leg skiing have been google-wacking to work out
how to use these funky stylesheet things. After the inevitable
frustration to start with, I have something that seems to work ok and I
have to say on the whole I like it. I've got a couple of oddities
though, which if I can get them fixed would make it all look that
little bit less 'hacky'...
To start with the site is at
http://82.152.33.78/drwolfson/photos...u_02/index.php. Its a
three columner based on some guidance from http://glish.com/css/7.asp.
I use opera most of the time, and I know there are some bits that look
a bit odd in firefox (the right navs) and IE (some of the spacing), and
I'm sure the gurus will have comments on those. However, the real game
is in the photos...
I can't be doing with re-writting stuff every time I stick another
batch of pictures up, so use php templates to generate the pages of
thumbnails and display the images. This is ok, but when there's a mix
of landscape/portrait then things get a bit messy e.g
http://82.152.33.78/drwolfson/photos/travel/Peru_02/. I'm using
float:left for all the .thumbnail divs, but it would be good if I could
get them all to be a bit more friendly - i.e. thumbnail tetris. Does
anyone have any ideas how I can do this, bearing in mind that while I'm
prepared to spend time on templates and styling I'm not keen on
tweaking individual pages.
The other problem is with the central #content div. It resize as I'd
expect, but to keep it at least the same size at the left nav I've used
a clearing div in the bottom of it - it's ok, but not exactly tidy and
doesn't seem to work in IE (I get funny stipes of background especially
with thumbnail pages). Any ideas how to sort this out? I'm begining to
think I might need an inner container round the left nav and content...
Any hint/tips greatfully recieved,
