Can't access my flash drive or external hard drive

1 New Member
When I first inserted my flash drive it installed one driver but another driver for the "Chipsbnk UDish USB Device"; a message said Windows 7 was not able to find. The flash drive does not show up in Windows explorer so I have no access to its files. I unplugged the drive and re-inserted it -- a bleep sounded as usual when you insert new hardware but once again I have no access to the drive. No messages came up this time or in subsequent insertions. I have tried this flash drive in several other computers with no problems. It seems to be something unique to my computer.

I also have a Seagate external hard drive which is doing the same thing. I hear the bleep that says that the drive has been inserted but I have no access to the drive. Like the flash drive above it works fine in other computers.

I have restarted my computer, unplugged my computer and looked at assigning a drive (the device does not show up in order to assign a letter). I have several other flash drives and another external hard drive that work just fine on my computer.

Any ideas, anyone?

Hi, I recently got an external hard drive to backup all my files. The easiest way it seems to synchronise between my desktop computer and the backup files on the external hard drive is to use Microsoft briefcase, but this then makes a replica of the database - which is not what I want. All I want is a copy of the most recent version of the database as I develop it, but to do the sychronisation manually seems a bit time consuming as I have...

Hi all! I use a internal hard drive as my external hard drive by using a IDE to USB wire. One day, I plug in the electric, but it won't work! I plug the electric into a different hard drive, it works. My hard drive doesn't work! What do I do from here? Should I do it myself? (post links to helpful info)

I have a Seagate 160GB external hard drive and have been using it to store all my files on using my Windows XP system installed on my E-Machine. Now suddenly my computer continues to tell me that the drive is working properly and that the driver installed is the most recent driver. However, my computer does not assign it a drive location for me to access my files. What is the problem? It is definitely in the XP software. I was able to...

I have an external hard drive that I use to store my media for my macbook. I was wondering if there was some way to set up a folder on my macbook that I could add files to when my external was not attached, and it would move those files to my external hard drive when it was attached. It would be like having an alias folder on my macbook that I could add files to when my external hard drive was not attached, and it would update the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
