MS Access vs Shareware SQL query software

Ty
If anyone replies who saw my other posts, now you know why my posts
look as if I'm using MS Access.
I'm trying to google information about MS Access and why MS Access
causes database locks within DB2. The Developers at my current job
discourage MS Access queries on the DB2 database. Here is what I
found so far:

Microsoft Access, however, is different. Access has its own object
model. The lock prevents users from connecting to the database(SDW).
DB2 UDB is an object-relational database server.
Problem:
Execution of programs using the SDW sometimes fail because of the use
of MS Access queries. There are no failues when running queries using
the Shareware software query tools.

Do anyone know the reason why MS Access causes problems for the SDW
and SQL query tools do not?

I'm wondering .NET is good for writing shareware at the moment since it needs .net framework installed in client's computer. But current windows don't have pre-installed .net framework which is quite big to download from internet for many customers. I'm afraid that will turn some customers away from your software.

Is there any way to detect within A97 when Windows is trying to shut down, so I can close down the application gracefully? We currently have a trap in the main menu asking the user to confirm if they want to shut the application. If the user is not at his desk and power fails and the UPS instructs Windows to close, then Windows will not shut down till the Access dialog is dismissed. Result = a flat battery and a crashed PC. Thanks.

What I have been looking for is technical information regarding automated registration, evaluation period components etc for publishing shareware. Questions such as. 1. are there already existing services that will maintain software registration codes so I don’t have to spend a life time maintaining a registration information? 2. how do I make my application kill itself if one doesn’t register after so much time? 3. Are there free...

Hi, I have spent the last couple of days researching this issue. And I have also spent time thinking about what is needed. I am distributing my software as shareware. When a customer orders a license, I send him/her a printed license with a license number that can be used to unlock certain features in the software. A license number should consist of up to 20 numbers and letters. Upper/lower case letters should not matter and in order...

I want db1 to be used to input data by a remote operator, when she is ready I want her to be able to click a control button to email her new data to db2. This new data will be added to the table in db2 ready for further processing.

I am a student taking a machine structures class in a university, which includes learning C. I am looking for a good freeware or shareware compiler which can be used in a "C only" mode. C++ isn't allowed in assignments, and I would like the compiler to check for C syntax instead of C++ syntax. Besides that, ease of use for a beginner and basic debugging capabilities are important. Suggestions are welcome.

I am trying to clean up a current Access database that I have. I was wondering if there was a FREE program out there that might allow me to see the DFD of my database. If I can see this information, I think I might be able to see where I can condense some query's to make the information more manageable. Any help??

I am getting ready to write a shareware app in .Net using C# (actually convert a VB shareware). I currently use a third party dll for the data management. It is called the Tsunami Record Manager. I know that it will not work in C# so I am looking for a very light-weight database system that will work well in C#. I really don't want to use Access if I can help it and Sql Server Express is really overkill. Does anyone have any suggestions? ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
