Anyone using .Net language to write shareware

JL
I'm wondering .NET is good for writing shareware at the moment since it
needs .net framework installed in client's computer. But current windows
don't have pre-installed .net framework which is quite big to download from
internet for many customers. I'm afraid that will turn some customers away
from your software.

tell that to the hundreds of open source projects currently using .Net on
GotDotNet, SourceForge, and others.

A very large percentage of the shareware on the market is based on Java,
which requires a runtime download and can be difficult to set up. I'll take
..Net any day.

JL,

I find this always so strange, when there is written at shareware (you need
for this SP1), than nobody say anything and probably thinks, I did not have
that yet. good that I see it is there.

What is the difference when you tell.
(you need for this .Net 1.1).

It is not always needed to use a SP as well do you know.

However when you want to reach as well MS/PC-Dos(W'311) or W95 customers or
more with even older operatingsystem s/computers, than you should have to use
of course a for that sufficient program language. By the way, for Linux
there is as well a .Net version.

I hope that this gives some idea's

I would like to author stylized web content using custom cascading style sheets. I want to be able to type the document with the mindset of a writer and momentarily forget that I am authoring web content. Unfortunately, trying to author content while switching back and forth between the wysiwyg view and the markup view interrupts the creative flow of writing. Presently, I write my copy in NOTEPAD and then apply the markup later. I...

Hi Experts, I'm new to JavaScript and web-based apps development, so I'll tell you right off that I don't really know my way around it as of yet. I'm trying to create a code library set with JavaScript (in DreamweaverMX) to display "buttons" with which to select pages in a gallery. I'm trying to "grey out" (and disable) the button for the current page when it is displayed. (This isn't rocket science here, but it's something that I...

I'm looking at the docs in VS2005 regarding starter kits and I noticed that the starter kits to download from the site are in vsi files (compressed), all except the shareware starter kit. MS docs says that templates should be in compressed files. The Shareware starter kit is in msi file so when you install it you get a solution that includes some other projects, but it does not appear in the templates when you want to start a new project....

I have written a nice little application, and have been told that it might be worth distributing as shareware. I poked around in the VB.NET help file, but couldn't find any information on the subject. Does anybody know if this has been done before, and what the standard schemes are? Matthew

I recently jumped on the .NET bandwagon and have been playing around in Visual Studio and reading a few books for about 2 weeks now. It occurs to me that I've never seen a desktop application written in .NET, at least none that ever required me to install the framework (I only recently installed it with Visual Studio). I know there are people that are developing shareware using .NET and I'm curious as to how people are handling the...

(The "C++ Grammer" thread in comp.lang.c++.moderated prompted this post). It would be more than a little bit nice if C++ was much "cleaner" (less complex) so that it wasn't a major world wide untaking to create a toolchain for it. Way back when, there used to be something called "Small C". I wonder if the creator(s) of that would want to embark on creating a nice little Small C++ compiler devoid of C++ language features that make...

My Shareware program (or rather Commerical Program with a time limited demo) used to have sales of around $2,000 per month around 2002, but then I got busy at work and didn't have time to maintain it, so sales dwindled off to about $200 a month or less. I still get the odd sale now and again. Recently whilst looking for a job I've spent months updating the software and I believe it's better than the competition, but after 2 months zero...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
