I would like to upgrade from XP Home to Professional. However, I get the following error message: "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD". Ultimately, I want to upgrade so that I can install IIS for the purpose of developeing ASP.NET applications. Thanks in advance, Ryan

I can understand that one wouldn't be able to run a full-fledged web server from XP Home, but is there not a toned-down version of IIS/ASP.NET a developer can use on XP Home? I just bought a new computer to do some ASP.NET development, but ran across http://www.asp.net/download-1.1.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1 which seems to indicate I'm out of luck unless I upgrade my OS. :-( I'm hoping I'm misunderstanding something.

Sorry if this is an off topic shot in the dark, but... Does anyone know a contact for anyone that works for Google Earth? I wanted to shoot 'em an email about a possible enhancement, but they're smart enough to not leave contact info ANYWHERE on their websites.

So I have run into an application that my good friend says, "you will need asp". so I found an asp tutorial on w3schools, but it refuses to run on my home computer (Microsoft Windows XP home). So I searched google for somebody else with the same problem. There must be some other workaround. I am open for suggestions. Charles

I need to get the dimensions of the Google Earth render window and I know squat about Window Handles. I've been sniffing around and I'm geting the idea that you can do lots of fun things with handles, that you can take over other apps. Is this true? Anyway, can someone help me with getting the dimensions of GE render window. The API provides: IApplicationGE::GetRenderHwnd ( OLE_HANDLE * hwnd ) Parameters: hwnd Output window...

Hi, I'd like to write a python script to control Google Earth, and I've read that Google Earth provides a COM api, and that Python has a COM module 'pythoncom'. Anyone know where to get pythoncom from - as a separate module, because I'm using the Python application that comes with my GPS chip, from Telit :-

I am placing a "hello.asp" page with simple code in C:\Inetpub or C:\Inetpub\wwwroot and running it and am getting: The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Hi all, I have worked an open source javascript + html page that has the potential to replace your existing browser home page. If you are interested in trying it out, or learning more about it, it is freely available at http://code.google.com/p/tphp/ I would love to hear from you if you have any comments. Thanks, Vishal

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
