asp running on home computer

So I have run into an application that my good
friend says, "you will need asp". so I found an
asp tutorial on w3schools, but it refuses to run
on my home computer (Microsoft Windows XP home).
So I searched google for somebody else with the
same problem.

There must be some other workaround.
I am open for suggestions.
Charles

What I want is to allow customers to upload
binary files after they identify themselves.
Perhaps there is an easier way to do this.

I am going to guess that the reason for this is that XP Home does not come
with a version of IIS (XP Pro comes with IIS 5.1).

You cant run a asp.net webserver for asp on XP Home natively as IIS won't
install on XP Home, you will need Pro oryou could try to install Mono -
http://www.mono-project.com/ASP.NET.

From the description you give you could probably just run an ftp server to
allow upload of files.

Hi, I'm trying to create a program similar to that of Google's desktop that will crawl through the hard drive and index files. I have written the program and as of now I just put the thread to sleep for 1 second after indexing a couple of files. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way that I could make so that the program will run at full speed only runs after the computer has been idle for a while. I've looked at the "nice" command...

Hello All, I posted earlier about a problem I was having with editing or pasting/deleting files in the "Home Directory" of my web server. I just noticed that the "Home Directory" option in the "Home Directory" tab is grayed out. Why would this be grayed out? Would this be a configuration thing or a permissions thing? I have an administrator account on this server

This is a very frustrating problem. We have installed Developer Suite 10g on 4 machines. The Development suite is in one Oracle home directory. On the same machines we also have a 9i database installed in a different Oracle home directory. These are our development/component testing machines. On 2 of the 4 machines, when we run a form from Forms Builder, in the URL in the browser before the "C:\..." which points to the temporary html...

Whenever I try to create a new ASP Web Page I get this message : "Visual Studio cannot create or open the application because the Web server on this computer is not running. Start the Web server before proceeding." Well, looking at my services I find that both WWW Publishing Services and IIS are started. I also successfully restarted both of them, but still keep getting the error message.

We're in the process of writing a new Windows Forms app and the desktop support folks want for it to be run from a network share. I know it's possible (i.e., just have the framework on the clients and a desktop shortcut to the exe out on the network)... but is it really a good idea? What are some arguments for and against running a .NET Windows Forms client from a network share? Here is my initial list... I'd appreciate any additions,...

When it runs as a service it returns an error: Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation. Please advise

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
