I've got a function, you can see it below, that is being called onmouseup in the textarea on my main form. The idea is to find a selection if possible and store that text in a global variable. I can't get this to work in any browser on a Mac, though it works alright on a PC. What am I missing?

I've got a short script that works fine in I.E. and Firefox, but not in Safari. It is supposed to print a constantly-updating counter on the webpage. Any ideas how to get it to work in Safari? The script uses the Date object, especially Date.getTime(). Could that have something to do with the problem? Thanks, E

Hi, I'd like to use onbeforeunload to submit a form before leaving a page. This works in Firefox and IE. Safari, however, blithely ignores this. Does anyone know of a workaround for Safari? Or another way to do the same thing in Safari? (that is, intercept a request to leave the page). I tried Safari 2.02 on Tiger. Thanks!

The property MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback="true" for forms does not seem to work on all machines. I checked it on three machines with IE v. 6.0.2900.2180. On one machine, everything was working ok as on my development machine. On the other machine, it moves the focus on top of page. What could be the problem ?

I have identical ASP.NET 2.0 code running on two different iis 6.0 w2k3 servers. On one MaintainScrollPositionOnPostBack works properly. On the other it does not work at all. What should I look for on the server that could cause such a problem? Thanks, Keith

Hi, I've tried using the Page.MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback property to keep the users' focus on the web control they are currently editing on AutoPostBack=true. Yet, there are cases when I DON'T want the scroll position to be maintained on postback, e.g. when server-side errors occur, being displayed at the top of the page. With...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
