format first name from -john- to -John- ?

RN
I'm trying to fix user inputed names to proper case. People love to enter
their names in all lower case or all upper, etc. I remember reading
somewhere that there is an easy way in the framework to convert name fields,
first and last, to proper case. I forgot the name of that case syntax, but
basically where you make sure to capitalize the first letter of someone's
first and last name, fix all capital letters ("JOHN" > "john"), etc.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Also, is there a way in your solution to not screw up names that should have
1 capital letters, like "McDonald", so I won't turn it into "Mcdonald"?

I appreciate the VBScript example, but I'm really looking for the .NET
framework way.

I am using the C# DirectoryEntry class to retrieve the Properties of an user object in the Active Directory. I need to get the First Name and Last Name as properties. I know it is not supported with the ADSI NT Provider and only supported in the LDAP Provider. So given an UserId (UID) how can I read the First Name and Last Name using LDAP Provider. If anybody can help me with a C# sample code it would of great help. Thanks in advance.

I have a student who has a hyphenated first name. If I concatenate the name like this: StudentName:( & ", " & ), it works as expected. If, however, I try to get the first name first by concatenating like this: StudentName: ( & " " & ), only the first name appears. I sure would appreciate any help! Mary

I built a webpage using vb.net (.net 2.0) that creates a form letter. This letter pulls data from a database. Although I populate the address with the person's full name, which comes from the name column of a customer table, I need to just get the first name for the Dear part of the letter (ie: Dear John instead of Dear John Smith). It would be easy if the name was in two parts in the table (First name and Last name column) but, that isn't...

I know that I saw code on this forum to put the Last Name, First Name in the same field when you start with a table that has 2 separate fields (LASTNAME and FIRSTNAME) but I can't find it. I have a table where the first name and last name are in two separate fields and I want to change the table to put both fields together in a field (MEMBER). Do I do this using an update query? Thanks

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
