Hello,
What's the essential differences between the two ways of "class::member"
& "object.member"(or object_pointer->member)?
class C{
public:
void f() {}
int i;
};

I'm currently writing a JS->Scheme compiler (which, using Bigloo,
automatically yields a JS->C, JS->JVM, JS->.NET compiler), and have a
question concerning the function-parameters:
According to the spec (10.1.6) the activation-object already contains the
the parameters-object when the variables are instantiated (10.1.3). The
question is now: does a parameter "parameters" overwrite the
"parameters"-object or not?
All three implementations...

I come from Java and an Object would be the class whist object would
likly be the varible to an object.
I get the impression with C# that object is just an alias to the Base
Class Object.
Can anyone enlighten me as to any differences and by convention if I
had a method that returns an object should I use one over the other.
public object ReturnIt( ) { return new Blah( ); }

(My dialect of English seems to puzzle people at times, so I'll first
clarify a few terms which I use in the following post:)
(1) By "domestic", I mean "ordinary, run-of-the-mill, not
extraordinary or strange".
(2) By "willy-nilly", I mean something along the lines of
"haphazardly", but without any sense of recklessness (i.e. gleefully
doing something without expecting any sort of negative effect, even
though there may in fact be a...

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth the past couple of days, I managed
to move (most of?) the content from the MacPython wiki to the main Python
wiki (*). All pages were created as subpages of
http://wiki.python.or/moin/MacPython
The motivation for this rather hasty move was that the MacPython wiki was
running an ancient version of MoinMoin and got spammed heavily. Because of
its age and vulnerability it was simply too hard to...

Hi There!
Could anybody please help regarding the below issue.
We had a COM+ component deployed on Windows 2000/NT machine it was working fine, I mean when it was being invoked from other machines it was creating object and was serving the purpose. Recently as an upgrade we moved all the COM+ component from Windows 2000/NT to WINDOWS 2003 and now when we are trying to invoke that component its throwing "Runtime Error-429 ActiveX Component...

I created a dll for com (in vb.net 2005) so that I could access it's
functions from an ms access app. I created the tlb file successfully. On my
dev machine I referenced it in my access app and wrote the code that uses
one of the functions. Everything ran just fine. No hiccups. The code
performed the calculation as expected. Today I went to install this on a
client workstation. I copied the tlb file into the same folder that the
access adp...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
