How to make database file readonly ? Access 2007

40 New Member
While am building my database project (.accdb) file, i need some to give this access file to somebody to have a look on the tables, forms and reports.

But what i dont need is, i dont want to them to manipulate any thing in the database (ie: design change, or record change) , so i need to give the file with read only access, if we can say.

they can open the db file itself but they only can see tables forms but without changing any thing in them.

I can change the .accdb file property to Hidden , but any one can apply it again, so silly . I searched over it but couldnt succeed to get a solution .

Any ideas folks .....

thanks in advance

My friend this is army secrets, never tell anyone!
You will have a couple of things to do!
First
Hide all tables and other objects

Second
Dissable all Menu and Control on your database

Third

Set the AutoExec Macro to open your POPUP-MODAL FORM and run your code for disable all Menubar and Controls

Lastly

Dissable the SHIF-KEY and PAUSE/BREAK-KEY to prevent any attempts to stop AutoExec Macro on StartUp and you are done!

Should you have any doubts, I will be there to help!

Just know that everything can be done in reverse to make it editable. However, I don't understand the need to do this. If they need to look at it but not be able to edit anything, then you just send that person a copy of the database and you keep the original version.

Hi all, I am designing a database named grants in MS Access. It basically deals with 1) A group of people write a proposal for projects that they want to do. 2) The proposal is submitted to a funding agency for consideration. 3) At some time in the future, the funding agency may or may not accept the proposal and make an award to fund the project. For this I have created 5 tables 1) Proposals: ProposalID(Primary Key), ProfessorID, Project...

Hi I am trying to export an Access table to a fixed-width text file. The table contains 2 memo fields of approx. 1000 characters each. I am using the 'Export text wizard' to export. In this wizard I change the default width (512) of the memo fields to the required larger size but it still only exports as 512. This has always worked fine for me in Access 2003 but it is truncating

I have created a website using VWD 2008. The interface allows a user to enter information such as (first name, last name, donation amount, etc.). I also want to add a feature to upload images and also have the images write to a field in the Access 2007 database. I have already created a new field in the database for type "attachment". Also I have added the file upload control to my web page, and updated all my gridview controls to show...

Looking ahead, I decided to try splitting my db and compiling the front end. So I tried it on a copy of my current db. I managed to split the db successfully, but then I wanted to compile the front end. Access refused to do it. The 'help' said it was probably because the db is "too big", but this seems wildly unlikely to me. I have about 40 queries, 40 forms and 30 reports, whereas 'help' is talking about thousands??? Any ideas as to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
