Export large memo field to fixed-width file in Access 2007

Max
Hi

I am trying to export an Access table to a fixed-width text file. The
table contains 2 memo fields of approx. 1000 characters each.

I am using the 'Export text wizard' to export. In this wizard I change
the default width (512) of the memo fields to the required larger
size but it still only exports as 512.

This has always worked fine for me in Access 2003 but it is truncating
half of the memo field in Access 2007.

Any ideas on how I get around this?

Thanks in advance for any help
Max Kelly

Hi, I have a report based on a query. The query grabs a memo field from my main table, yet when I display the memo field in the report it truncates the memo field (the field needs to hold more than 255 characters). The table holds all the memo text, but the query seems to truncate the memo field to 255 chars? This seems like there should...

I have a form where "notes" are entered on an individual. Unfortunately, these notes are usually longer than the 255 characters allowed in a single text box. To get around this, I have three note boxes set up on the form (note1, note2, and note3). When one fills up, the user can tab to the next one and continue typing. This works but it is...

I need to export a query to Excel with a memo field. The memo field keeps getting cut off at 255 characters. If I just cut and paste, I get the whole memo field. I need it in Excel without having to go through all that. Any ideas? Thanks! Laura

This is mainly a speed question. In this example: I have a QuotesHdr table that has a few memo fields. If these memo fields are used extensively by some users, and if their are a large number of records in QuotesHdr, should I break out the memo fields into a separate table? The thinking here is that, for Quotes selection dropdowns that...

Anyone: I have a simple MSAccess DB which was created from an old ASCII flatfile. It works fine except for something that just started happening. I've been asked to construct a database which will require several memo fields. This database will be the standard frontend/backend mdb configuration. I have read many posts describing the corruption problems associated with memo fields, especially in a networked environment. Am I asking for trouble if I go ahead with this project?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
