Hi everyone

I am using this as a test question to test the new Rate up/down feature for threads and posts. For anyone looking for a legitimate answer to this question please check out this insight.

Now anyone can post a reply here either commenting on the answer or anything else (withing site rules) and others can use the new up/down feature. Please feel free to post as many comments as you wish so we can thoroughly check out this feature.

BTW the icons don't always load on page refresh (bug to be fixed) but if you refresh a second time you should see them.

OK I am posting this under a pseudonym. I forgot to say in my original post that the visuals are not what the final visuals will be and we are testing the feature more than the visuals but feel free to give your input.

I have a beef about this. I want to be able to change my choice. If i click on up, and change my mind, i want to be able to do it!

The tooltip for "good" says "bad".
And edit resets it, good.
And did my multi-edit just break it?
Don't mind me just experimenting.
It appears it doesn't always show, based on either the missing of an empty line, or the post not being big enough.
Also randomly adds empty lines.

If you refresh the page sometimes the ratings don't get drawn.

Will anything be carried into the forums list of questions? The rating of the first post may be?

I voted my own post bad and edited it, after that it said 0/0 (or so I remember, though I don't really trust my own memory).
Edit for test.
Test points out it didn't actually say '0/0', but looked like no votes anyway. Trying to vote again however resulted in "you have already voted".

Redson edited this...

Nah, says I already voted on this one...

so this is just the rating mechanism, now it's time to add what you guys want with the up votes and down.

mary suggested, with an upvote, send a good job PM and with a down vote send a PM that asks member to review our guidelines (link provided) and make changes, this will also move up the edit of a post to like 72 hrs giving members ample time to make changes to rate.

the idea is make moderating down to one click, also after x down votes move the post into soft delete, or lets say a super mod or admin clicks down vote and it does get soft deleted + pm noticed to author

NO! Please do not send more PMs. We already send one when chosen as a best answer that is is way annoying! I don't need more every time someone upvotes my post. However I do like it to send PM when something is downvoted. Let's spam them to read the guidelines!

EDIT:
Grrr, thanks alot mary!!!

Hi, We have an internal network of 3 users. Myself & one other currently have individual copies of the front-end MS Access forms and via our individual ODBC links we have used the: File > Get External Data > Link Tables > select ODBC Databases facility to link to our back-end MySQL Server. On both our machines the tables appear in the window very quickly and if we hit 'Select All', all the tables start loading really quickly into our...

Hi, We a have a small office network of 3 users. Each user has their own copy of an MS Access Front-End which is linked via their own local ODBC connection to our server's MySQL database (Linux Machine) 2 of our 3 users machines can import/link the data back into their front-ends instantly. The third machines will connect, but it is so ultra slow that you just cannot import all the tables and use the

Hello, I am converting an Access database on our network to a sql 2000 backend and keeping access as the front end. The access database has evolved and been a solution to collect data but now we want to move the tables over to sql 2000. We have successfully done that but are now having difficulties with an ODBC connection. Initiall linking the tables is not an issue and I am able to connect with no problem. However after closing down...

Hi, I have an application that uses MS-SQL Linked tables. I have a utility routine that drops all links and re-establishes them. It works great when my connection string is a DSN connection but I would like to change it to DSN-Less so users don't have to set up ODBC connections on each workstation. If I use the following DSN

I have a Microsoft Access2002 database that needs to connect to an Oracle Database. I need to map 2 tables from the Oracle DB to retrieve the proper data. I read somewhere (quite a while back) that if you use ADO in Access, you can connect without the need for ODBC, TNSNAMES.ORA and the Oracle client installed on the user's desktop. If I use the Microsoft driver for Oracle, is it possible to connect to an Oracle DB using straight VBA

I have a Mysql database hosted on a remote server. Previously, I could always connect to those databases using the 3.51 ODBC connector and linking the tables in Access. The benefit of this is that I can view the data from my desktop, export it to spreadsheets if necessary and print labels. I guess because of a Mysql upgrade by my host, the 3.51 connector stopped working (the password hash problem), so I upgraded to the 5.* ODBC...

I just started using Access 2003, and I can't link a SQL Server table. I right-click on the database window; select Link Tables; and select ODBC Databases from the Files of Type dropdown. As soon as I select ODBC Databases from the Files of Type dropdown, the entire dialog box disappears. No error message. Just disappears, and I'm back at the database window. I have tried this with other databases, including a brand new blank one, and...
