Microsoft Jet error in Export Text Wizard

1 New Member
We're using Access 2003, on XP systems. All users are on SP2.

We've written a database that works fine in IT, but the end users are not able to run it. The process includes exporting a table to a fixed-width txt file. The users are getting an error during the export.

When the export starts (and this happens in manual exports as well), we choose a Save As type of Text Files, and name the file (for example, test.txt).

We then click on Export, then select Fixed Width. As soon as we click Finish, an error box appears.

The title in the box is Export Text Wizard (there is no error number).
The contents of the box states:
The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'test#txt'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly.

Note that the error message above has converted the "dot" to be a "pound". Also, the object shouldn't exists... we're trying to create it during the export.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This sounds like an installation issue or possibly a permissions issue. I think they both need to be looked at before pursuing this.

Hello All I got "Tables are skipped or export failed" error when I used upsizing wizard on migrating MS Access 2000 to MS SQL Server 2000. I am changing my application backend database from MS Access 2000 to MS SQL Server 2000. My front end is MS Access interface. When I used the MS Access 2000's Upsizing Wizard for database migration, some tables cannot be migrated. The upsizing wizard report states some tables are "Tables are...

I am using ACT 6 and am trying to "split" the database between records for customers and junk records. The accounts designated as "customers" have that word in the ID field, and I am using that field as a lookup to separate these records from the rest of the database, which have nothing in the ID field. When I try to use the Export Wizard, it does not allow me the option to choose the lookup records to export. It seems to work, but when...

Hi, I'm working on converting several of my Access 97 databases to Access 2002 format (the company's changing from NT 4 to XP and updating Office at the same time), and this one has me stumped. As a performance enhancer, I use VBA code (transfertext) to export the results of a query (usually 20-30 thousand rows with a few dozen fields of customer information) to the user's temp folder as a text file and then link to it using a text file...

Dear MSSQL- experts, I have a strange problem with SQLSERVER 2000. I tried to export a table of about 40000 lines into a text file using the Enterprise manager export assitant. I was astonished to get an exported text file of about 400 MB instead 16 MB which is the normal size of that data. By examining this file with a text editor I found that the file included alongside the data of my table MANY zeros which caused the big file size.

I have an access adp (MS Access 2003) connecting to a SQL 200 server. From the adp a user generates reports and using the built-in access export wizard can export said reports (which are either tables or queries run against a table) as the save as options available in the wizard. What I really want to achieve is remove certain save as options from the default access export wizard. After some research I have realized that customizing...

Hi I am trying to export an Access table to a fixed-width text file. The table contains 2 memo fields of approx. 1000 characters each. I am using the 'Export text wizard' to export. In this wizard I change the default width (512) of the memo fields to the required larger size but it still only exports as 512. This has always worked fine for me in Access 2003 but it is truncating

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
