Access 2002 Error 3625 in converted database

Hi,

I'm working on converting several of my Access 97 databases to Access
2002 format (the company's changing from NT 4 to XP and updating Office
at the same time), and this one has me stumped. As a performance
enhancer, I use VBA code (transfertext) to export the results of a query
(usually 20-30 thousand rows with a few dozen fields of customer
information) to the user's temp folder as a text file and then link to
it using a text file specification. Access 2002 is throwing error 3625
saying that the text file spec doesn't exist. I get this error if I try
to link to the text file manually using the wizard as well.

The spec *does* exist, it's in the MSYSImExSpecs table and its field
definitions are in the related msys table. If I'm using the wizard, I
click Advanced, select the spec from the list (indicates to me that the
spec exists!) and it only fails when I get to clicking the Finish
button. I even tried saving the spec to a different name and got the
same behavior.

I have another query/text file/link with similar data, of similar size
and that uses the same sub to run the transfertext that works fine in
the converted mdb. This one is the second.

I've googled groups and the web, looked in Access 2002 and 97's help
files and checked MS' support website and found no help for this issue.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ronald,

I suspect that this Access 2000 KB article might also apply to newer
versions as well?

Thanks, Don. I'll mess around with this at the office tomorrow -- but it
looks like they're saying the error occurs when you either 1) don't
specify the text specification or 2) try to use transfertext with a
schema.ini file. In my case, the VBA code includes the import spec,
Access sees the import spec (it's in the list of them when I try to link
manually using the import text wizard) but then it fails to use the
import spec and complains it's not there when attempting to link to it.

Hi there, Hope you guys can help me out. For one of my clients I have created an Access 2002 db. It used to be under Access97, but I have converted it to Access 2002, without any problems. My client works with this db in a multi-user environment. (Another client of mine works with this db in a multi-user environment as well, but under Access97. Done so for years now without problems) The first client is experiencing frequent Access...

We are running an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. Our network guy is upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and wants to upgrade Office and SQL Server at the same time. We're moving to SQL Server 2005, and, since he already has licenses for Office Pro 2002, he wants to upgrade to that. I've been saying that we need to upgrade to Access 2003, not 2002, even if Office is kept at 2002. We are also looking to do a fair amount of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
