Second Database Slow To Open After IE7 Install

I experienced the following problem the last time I installed IE7
beta. Since then I have done a reformat of my hard disc and after
using IE6 for a while I installed the latest version of IE7 and the
problem has reappeared. The problem didn't manifest when I was using
IE6. The cause is probably extremely obscure and the reason for this
post is to inquire if others are seeing the same problem.

I have Access 2000 and 2003 installed on my machine with the default
mdb file association being Access 2003.

If I double click any mdb file in Explorer it opens almost immediately
as would be expected on a reasonably fast machine. If I leave the
file open and then double click any other mdb file in Explorer, the
second instance of Access opens immediately but then it hangs for
about 4 or 5 seconds before the actual file opens. Any subsequent mdb
that is opened hangs in the same manner.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have a large Access 97 database that's been split into a front and back end. We've used it successfully with several computers networked together, but now some of the people in my organization are saying that since some of the people who need to get at it are all over the state, it would be nice to put it up on the web and have a web interface for it. Is there any way to do this without rewriting the entire front end in some other...

Very strange: the same database opens rather fast on one computer and very slowly on the other computer. Once it is open, there is no difference in speed, but only opening it takes about one minute. I have had this problem before, and suddenly (after a few days) the problem was gone without any sign of the cause. But now it seems to stay... I use Access 97, Jet 3.5, Windows XP and I am running the database on a local machine,...

Hi, I'm trying to use a custom action to modify a database (rather than create one) using the VS.NET '03's help example called "Custom Action to Create Database During Installation". I've made two modifications to the sample in the document...both are in the "Protected Sub AddDBTable" (towards the bottom). I've changed ' Creates the database.

Could you maybe give me some advice where to start reading about that theme? Usually I develope windows applications, but this time my software has to run on sun solaris.

The following problem started on my PC about a week ago and I can't link it to any specific change. I'm using Access XP. If I have any database open and try to open any other database by double clicking its file in Explorer, it takes about 5 seconds to open. Previously the second database would open almost instantaneously, as one would expect on a reasonably fast machine. However if I have any database open and then open a second...

Out of the blue I have slow queries that cause asp script timeouts and I cannot figure it out. I have moved some test code to other sites on the server and still have these long delays. I have tried dropping the tables, then the database entirely and restoring and still slow. I run the same code on...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
