Access memory problem on upgrade

I had 512 Mb memory running an Access 97 app. I just upgraded by installing
another 512 MB (1024 MB total) and suddenly I am getting an out of memory
message as Access tries to load.

Help!!!

A dim recollection says that this was a limitation in a component of Access
97, and that was addressed long ago by the service packs.

If you do not have Service Release 2 for Office 97, download them from:
http://support.microsoft.com/support...cks/Office/97/

That should do the trick, but post back if it doesn't.

Thanks Allen... that worked although when I tried to install service pack
2, I received a message saying that I needed to install service pack 1
first. After installing service pack 1 , service pack 2 still gave me an
install error message telling me it couldnt install SR2, "... maybe due to
multiple office 97 installations on this computer".

But SR1 solved the problem.

Are there ny guidelines for using space usage with ASP/Access? I have an Access 2000 DB on shared Web space, which is 2MB but growing, and soon to reach about 10MB due to a catalog change. My host places a normal limit of 10MB before an upgrade is needed to more space. Now I have no response issues, but I am planning. Currently about 400 users a day visit, but this should increase as the the catalog grows (now 14 lines, set to go to...

Access 97 is running on an XP Home machine pulling up a database on an XP Pro machine. The XP Home machine has 512 megs of RAM, the XP Pro machine has 768 megs. Access 97 runs fine on both machines. However, when I recently tried to add another 256 megs of RAM to the XP Home machine, I can't even load Access. I get an "out of memory" error, "close unneeded programs and try again". The rest of my Office 97 apps work fine with the extra...

Host PC: Win SBS 2003 with 2.6 GHz processor and 1GB RAM SQL Server 2000 sp3 (or latest).MS Office 2k3 I have the access 2k3 front end running on server (this may get changed) and all was well until an upgrade 1 week ago when I installed a new version of the mde (with very minor changes) and a new VB application via a VB6 installer setup.exe. Access uses odbc to linked tables on SQL Server, plus a few local tables.

I just had a google through this NG but have not seen mention of Erik Rucker's blog entry and the new Jet: http://blogs.msdn.com/access/archive/2005/10/05/477549.aspx mentioned by Mike Gunderloy http://www.larkware.com/dg4/TheDailyGrind726.html Aside from the Sharepoint feature extension, amazing news.

Hello All, I've been developing a VB.NET app that requires the use of a DB. Up to now, I've been using Access. It's a bit slow, but everything works. I'm at a point now where I need to decide if I should stay with Access or move the DB to SQL. I'm trying to come up with a list of Pros/Cons for such a move. My list is a bit lopsided, as I have very little experience with SQL and quite a bit with Access. PROS for moving to SQL:

I am just wondering why, with nothing else running and executing an update query against a very large table, does Access seem to be causing less than 10% processor usage. Then it says "There is not enough disk space or memory to undo the changes". I have 2 gb RAM, Core 2 duo e6300 processor and plenty of disk space. Why doesn't Access peg the CPU? Joel

SInce about 1996, I have been happily using MS Access for Windows 95, but would now like to upgrade to a recent version. If I get a Windows XP version, will I be able to import all my Access 95 files without problems? Alternatively, should I continue applying the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach, and keep on using Access for Win 95? Thank you for any advice.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
