download stops in middle

107 New Member
when i download movies my download stops in the middle. I use Free Download Manager and i get the message "File not found in the server" error. The download manger tries to reconnect to server several times and then stops. It usually happens when i download large size videos of about 100 MB. The download stops at random point, sometimes when it is 45% complete and sometime when it is 98% complete. I have adsl broadband connection with download bandwith of 11 kbps. I dont understand why but it seems to me that the server has set certain timeout settings which stops me from downloading after sometime. Please enlighten me!

I can't be sure, but I would guess this is an ISP setting.

There are often restrictions in the contract that restrict how much you can download in a specific period. The link would be throttled automatically on you.

If this is the case then further downloads at that time (after the main one has stopped) would also fail or struggle.

Hello,

Can you re-download the same file after file download stops in the middle? If not, then maybe the file is actually deleted from servers. Some file hosting servers like rapidshare allows only 10 (or so) downloads for a file that was uploaded by a member who does NOT owns a premium account. So, maybe while you are downloading, the 10 download limit gets completed and your download stops.

Moreover, sites like rapidshare impose a maximum download limit on persons who DON'T own a premium account. Even if file size is larger than allowed maximum size, the download starts and stops when this limit is reached.

This is just my assumption that you are using such services. If not, then I have no idea about what is causing these problems.

thankyou all for the response and support. Well, the issue is not related to any type of accounts or membership because i am downloading from free sites. It is just that large size files donot get downloaded whereas 30-50 MB files do not have the same problem. so i wonder why and feel that there is nothing to do with my system either.

@raamay
I think you may be misunderstandin g the concept here.

We are talking about the account you have with your ISP. This is not related to the account to get access to any of the downloads.

Does that make things a little clearer?

Hello,

If you are sure that it this nothing to do with paid download sites, then read and try to understand what NeoPa is telling.
You can even try contacting your ISP (Internet Service Provider) customer care/service facility for more details.

i found out a lot of threads in the net discussing the same issue and i dont know how they have overcome the problem. Proxy session timeout is what i think as the problem but i dont have a very good idea on it. So i dont know how this can be solved.

Do you know you're using a proxy server?

It wasn't mentioned earlier (which would be strange if you were using one - considering the question). I doubt you even use one to be honest.

Hi! I try to use custom download page (download.aspx) wich writes file (about 700Mb) to response. But I can download only one file from one IP at the same time. I think that this is IIS or ASP.NET limits but I'm not sure. How can I fix this or change limits? Thanks

Hi peeps, I'm trying to find a control for downloading from my website. What I want to do is allow users to download quite a large file, use the Save As dialog so they can place the file where they like. But *not* use the download dialog. What I want is to display my site with a frame showing download progress. The idea being that if they navigate away from my site, the download stops.

:confused: I have been on the quest to find a php script that can serve files for downloads and limit the speed at which the file is transfered to the user. I want a faster download speed for registered members and a slower speed for guests. The only other thing I can think of is using the header() function to force a download for the requested file type and stream the file to the user's browser. Then using sleep() or usleep()...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
