I've been working with Oracle 9i for about 8 months on windows XP (the same
problem occurs with WIN2000). However, I noticed that the latest release has
some software that "hits the disk" about every 1-2 seconds! Anyway, this is
a real problem on my laptop, because it can NEVER go into a low-battery-mode
since the disk sub-system is always active. Does anyone know how to shut
this 1/2 second disk hit (evdently a disk-write)? I've spent...

A user is having issues with replication. The message states it can't
find a database. This database is on the distributor. When I go to
Enterprise manager and add that server with a valid logon (I even
tried logging on as sa), and I look at the databases. They are NOT
the databases that exist on that server. They are the databases that
are on the client (laptop)'s SQL Server. I've reinstalled sp3 (SQL
2000), and rebooted. Went to...

Hi,
I have one problem with siemens m20 gsm modem. It returns error when i
try to send at-command and use "\r" <return> character.
Example:
at = "ATI"+"\r";
WriteFile(hCom,at.c_str(),at.length()+1, &NumBytesWritten, NULL);
After this modem says ERROR on terminal. What return-key is supported
by m20 because "\r" return key does not work.

my laptop. After putting in many additions to the functionality on
the Laptop version, I copied it back to my desktop.
Nothing was changed on the desktop in respect of the configuration but
I now get an error which I am unable to fix.
I have a statement "Set cat = New ADOX.Catalog" This statement is

I've recently noticed that there seems to be some font size differences
(I'm guessing) in pages being viewed in FF 1.5 on my laptop which
causes the whole layout to fall apart. You can see this page here:
http://www.behealthy.com/healthy.cfm and look at the login section.
The login boxes should be side-by-side but they're not when I view the
page on my laptop. It looks fine on my desktop. I don't have this
problem when I look at these...

Hi all,
I was working with VB 2005 to create an application that will send and receive SMS using a GSM Modem(Siemens MC35i). I am not pretty sure about the AT+CNMI parameters I am supposed to use so that I get indication about the newly received SMS in the form "+CMTI: "SM",3" where SM is the memory storage and 3 refers to the location where the new SMS is stored.
The problem is that the GSM modem is responding with the +CMTI indication when a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
