Print Jobs Not Deleting From Print Queue

3 New Member
Print jobs are not deleting from print queue after completion. This problem is on a peer-to-peer network of four computers and one printer. Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 is the operating system.

The print jobs, which display in the queue as "Printed", can be manually removed. Is there a configuration setting that dictates whether or not print jobs remain in the print queue?

I am not experienced with networks and print queue configuration, so I may not have supplied enough information. Does anyone have any advice on how to solve the problem or know of reference material I can read to help resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance.

This thread would be better placed in either the Networking forum or the Windows forum, but I'm not sure which - if you can tell me which forum would be more appropriate, I can move it there, and then you'll probably get more help.

First off upgrade to windows 2000 service pack 4

Second, find which computer is sharing the printer or if the printer is stand alone network printer.

In the computer that shares the printer you will go to printer properties and right click on the printer that is having problems. In properties go to advanced and modify your settings according to your needs. You can tell it to print directly or to spool documents, its your choice.

Isolate your problem to see which computer on the network is causing printer jobs to stop responding and delete and reconnect your shared printer. Also make sure you have the latest driver by going to your printer's manufacturer website and downloading the latest drivers on the support page.

If may assist you further, let us know.

Regards, Cyber.

Thank you for your help. We have resolved the problem. There was a job storage setting in Properties that was enabled. Disabling the setting solved the problem.

Thanks again.

Hi, I'm currently working on a project and one of the features is to be able to control the print jobs send to the printer from other applications (eg MS Words). There must be some form of validiation before the print job can be released to the printer. I was wondering if this is possible to be done in Java. If so, which APIs will I need to used? Thanks James

Hi, ive got some code together wich uses the graphics class to build a page and send it to the print.. I need to be able to print preview and obviously print. I've got the functionality to do both, however, when viewing the print preview and clicking print it prints to the default printer. Is there a way to bring up the printdialog when this button is clicked rather than a strait click? i tried something like pp == DialogResult.OK etc......

My Brother printer receives two of the same print jobs when I click PRINT - however, the first job says it is deleting, but it never does and stops printer printing. This happens on WORD. To print, I have to reboot, start again, and then it only prints one doc before it returns to the deleting message and jams. Help! -- Jock Kennedy

Hi All, Is this possible: 1) An application prints to a printer/print queue (mainly XP). 2) A vb.net application monitors the print queue (I know this can be done) 3) Retrieve the RAW information from the PrintJob (Cant seem to find anything on this) 4) Delete the Job when I have the RAW information (I know this can be done)

Does c# (dotnet)have a mechanism to access the print spooler? I need to create an app that can read a print job being sent from any program and write the info to a database for later use. Basically the name of file being printed will suffice.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
