Hi group, after waiting more than 4 month in the .upgrade group for an answer, I dare to ask here. :-) I open a VB6 project in VB 2008 (express) and have the Wizard convert it. It also creates the necessary interop assemblies for the referenced ActiveX dlls. Problem: the interop assemblies are not imported the way they should. The

I've been using VC++ 2008 Express ** Beta 2 ** version. I also have most of the other express languages (Basic, C#), but downloaded and installed them prior to the official release as well. Now that the official release of the express versions has happened, should I upgrade by installing the official ones?

I am happily developing software with C# using Visual Studio 2005. Should I upgrade to Visual Studio 2008? If I do, will I be able to work on the same project alternately with the two different Visual Studio versions?

I am using Visual Studio 2003 Enterprise Edition. Now that VS 2008 is out in beta, I figure 2005 is stable enough for us. :-) Which version of Visual Studio 2005 is the logical upgrade path for us? Thanx, -- Anil Gupte www.keeninc.net www.icinema.com

Hi, apologies in advance for what may be a newbie question. I have the following situation: I have an API I want to use from Excel that requires the .net framework. I have Vista / Excel with VB 6.5. Is there some way to upgrade VB 6.5 to VB ..net so that I can use the API from visual basic in Excel, without developing a whole application in Visual Studio somehow? Thanks!

I installed SQL Server 2008 Express, basic edition (SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU_Bootstrapper.exe, version 9.0.30729.1) without any problem. Then I attempted to install AdventureWorks Sample Databases for SQL Server 2008 (SQL2008.AdventureWorks_All_Databases.x86.msi). This attempt failed because SQL Server 2008 Express, basic edition doesn’t support Full-text Search, which AdventureWorks requires. So I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 Express, basic...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
