how to get "XP visual styles" on button controls?

On my old workstation (development workstation) if I set Application/Enable
XP visual styles - I was able to get/see the visual styles - like button
borders highlighting when you run the mouse over them. But on my new
workstation (development workstation) I can't get the visual styles to work.
Matter of fact, the button controls appear raised (like in old VB6). I
downloaded/Installed a bunch of updates for VS2005 after I got the new
workstation. What settings do I need to change to get the XP visual styles
on the controls again?

Thanks,
Rich

I figured it out: goto
MyComputer/r-click/properties/advanced/settings/Visual Effects/scroll to the
bottom and check "Use visual styles on windows and buttons"

(Sorry for the cross-post, but no one responded to my other thread.) When developing a web page in VS.Net, I see everything in WYSIWYG format. And when I am creating a User Control, I see that drawn the same way. However, when I drag the User Control onto my main page, I see a gray box where the User Control should be. (I was expecting to see my User Control actually *rendered* on the Design screen, similar to how FrontPage renders...

I have a Javascript bookmarklet that people want to add to their bookmarks. In Win 2k and below, addToFavorites() works fine. In Windows XP it generates a permission error and does nothing except show the "javascript error" icon in the lower left hand corner of Internet Explorer. My questions: - Is there a way to do this that works with Windows XP? - If it's a security level thing, is there a way for the Windows XP user to...

Hi all. I'm using one PC/XP Pro as my development environment. Its IIS has one default web site, of course, which is the site I'm working on. When some feature is finished I deploy it to my "production" site which is hosted somewhere else. Very common situation, I guess. This app uses email to notify customers of some particular events. Works on production, but sometimes I need to change something in the way those notifications work....

Following the directions in "Python in a Nutshell" (an excellent book), I entered the C code for "helloworld.c", saved it as a file, and entered this script and saved it as setup.py: from distutils.core import setup, Extension setup(name='helloworld', ext_modules= )]) Then, following directions, I type "python setup.py install" from a C:\> prompt. I get these messages:

Hello, I'm trying to get f2py working from the command line on windows XP. I have mingw32 as my C complier (after some advice on a previous thread) and Compaq Visual Fortran 6.5. Changing my C complier reduced my errors but I'm still having trouble. I think I have all the correct paths set but I'm not sure. F2PY gets further when I specifically tell it what my compilers are as follows................. C:\Program...

Hello, I have Visual Studio 2005 and am developing my first web site. I see TreeViews, ReportViewers, etc. but I'm not sure which approach that I should choose. Let me tell you what I'm going to do and maybe you can offer suggestions: 1) I'm going to have a bunch of articles that I'm going to be posting to this website. 2) I need some sort of "tab" or "tree" structure to the left that

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
