I wrote a multithreaded windows service that has read/write access to an XML
file using a mutex.
I started wondering -- a multiuser XML file could be really useful in cases
where a small, one-table, database is needed.
Then, I am wondering how to implement in a web service.
For example, when a user consumes a web service, is each user on a single
thread on the server?

Suppose I want to write a webservice, where an XML file is loaded in
XmlDocument and then a web method is built that would take in an XPath
query as a parameter, and a string value.
The Xpath query would be used to find the node, and the value would update
the InnerXml attribute.
The question is: how can a web service provide multiuser access to the same
XmlDocument?

Hi Frenz,
I want to know about working in a Multi user environment in ASP. If more than one user logins in to my site and works with the pages, during updating work, problem occurs. Is this referred to as Concurrency problem? I want to know how to avoid concurrency issues. Moreover, can the issue be handled both at database level and in application(ASP/ASP.Net). Please guide me. Thanks in advance for the support.
Cheers,

I want MS Access to act as a reporting tool accessing Oracle tables.
The Oracle database is populated by another database application, but
this application cannot create the report I want in this situation. I
can easily develop the application I need to create the report and I'd
like to deploy this tool as a published application over Citrix so
users can simply fireup Access, run the report and print.

I've been asked to construct a database which will require several
memo fields. This database will be the standard frontend/backend mdb
configuration. I have read many posts describing the corruption
problems associated with memo fields, especially in a networked
environment. Am I asking for trouble if I go ahead with this project?

I am new to VB.Net but since i have a good experience in VB6(having developed 2 to 3 desktop applications), i find no problem coping with the new environment at this stage.
Well, i am planning to learn VB.Net and want to kickoff with development of a database application which is multiuser in nature. But as of now, i have not developed multiuser applications even in VB6.
Now i want to get some advises before i move ahead. I want to know...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
