I wrote a multithreaded windows service that has read/write access to an XML
file using a mutex.
I started wondering -- a multiuser XML file could be really useful in cases
where a small, one-table, database is needed.
Then, I am wondering how to implement in a web service.
For example, when a user consumes a web service, is each user on a single
thread on the server?

Suppose I want to write a webservice, where an XML file is loaded in
XmlDocument and then a web method is built that would take in an XPath
query as a parameter, and a string value.
The Xpath query would be used to find the node, and the value would update
the InnerXml attribute.
The question is: how can a web service provide multiuser access to the same
XmlDocument?

We recently converted our department wide shared Access97 database to
Access2K. We used to be able to open various reports in design mode and make
changes to the design (or create new reports) even while other users in this
shared database might be using other, unrelated reports.
Now, in Access2k, it appears that whenever you do not have exclusive access,
you cannot make any design changes to reports. It seems that the presence
of any...

I need to develop a multiuser database application to be used by four
people(The number of users are not likely to increase). It is for
storing records of different versions of particular papers. I am new to
building such an application. I would like to know what would the
requirements be for using Access as the means for building the
multiuser database. Two of the four use Access 2000(running Windows 98)
and other two use Access...

Hello all,
I am working on a multiuser access db. I want to have people login and
then store their user information in an object. I want to store the
information because it will be used in every form along with selections
made on the forms in the database.
The db will be stored on a file server and the users will access it
through their desktop version of Access 2003.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
