Making Inherited property readOnly

Tom
Hey,

I am trying to create some new controls (I will parse the designer for
controls and convert to a game xml format for GUI), but i need to
disable (I.e. readonly and possibly remove from the control so that the
user cannot see them in the propertygrid), so that they can only change
properties that will actually convert to the game format.

Cheers

Hi, I have a class hierarchy, and would like all classes in the tree to have a common, static readonly variable - with a class-specific value. I'd like it to be readonly (it should never change), but this prevents me from setting its value in the static constructor of the subclasses - I'm allowed to set its value in the superclass constructor only.

I have a field in an abstract class marked readonly. However, when I attempt to modify that field in the constructor of a class which inherits it, I get a compile-time error stating that 'A readonly field cannot be assigned to (except in a constructor or a variable initializer).' Any ideas would be apreciated, though I was hoping I wouldn't have to use a property. Reuben.

Hello, I have a BaseClass and many Classes which all inherit (directly) from the BaseClass. One of the functions in the BaseClass is to (de)serialize the (inherited) Class to/from disk. 1. The Deserialization goes like: #Region " Load "

Is there any way to implement on a property or function who's return type is an inheritor of the corresponding property or function in the interface? For example, I would like to be able to do the following: Public Interface ITest ReadOnly Property TestProperty() As BaseClass End Interface Public Class BaseClass End Class

If I create a UserControl that inherits from, say, Panel, and I do not want my UserControl to have a property that it inherits from Panel. How can I remove it. For example, I might not want by control to have a BackColor property even though it inherited that property from Panel. Thanks

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
