Ongoing "Out of Memory" problem

I'm relatively new to vb.net (2005) and I continually experience an out of
memory exception during the development process...and this is becoming a big
pain!!

I have 2gigs of memory and this never happened in vb6.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

Thanks

Hi, I have a problem with a home-made DLL used in an ASP environment. It is coded in VB6, apartment-threaded. The DLL returns a binary PNG stream (an image). I use it with ASP's Response.BinaryWrite to display a dynamic image on a web page. The server is Windows 2000 SP4.

I have designed a multi-threaded application that manipulates images (CCITT Group 4 TIFF Images). I'm getting some strange behavior and I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing. I run a batch process that reads in pages of one of these TIFF files, separates them out into different TIFF files, saves them to a file (in a new thread) and disposes properly of all the memory that was used. I run this batch process and monitor the...

As everytime SAP client issue request to my window service, it will connect to oracle and do some searching and return the result in a SAPTable. I did a volume...

Hello, all. This line has been pestering me, and I can't seem to figure out why the problem is occuring. I'm trying to paint a GraphicsPath onto a Bitmap, using the Graphics class, but it always seems to crash, and throw the "Out of Memory" exception when it comes to the point I need the create the object. I've been fairly strict with IDisposable.Dispose(), and the 'using' as well. It always seems to be at this exact line, when the...

I've a jpeg image that is 514k, which doesn't strike me as very large. Hank @ITGroup wrote: Well, now you've told us a little more about your application I can understand that you need to be careful with memory allocation. The best thing you can do is to ensure that your program is reasonably decomposed into functions. That way the local namespaces have limited lifetimes, and only the values that they return are injected into the environment. You also need to be careful in exception processing that you...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
