Detecting an Internet Connection is up

HI,

How do I know whether my PC is already connected to the Internet and not
only the LAN ?
My program needs to send an email back from my remote PC to my HQ according
to schedule.

Can I send the email in background and only notify them with a pop up
message after the transmission succeeds.

Thank You,
mfwoo

I'm facing a problem where I need to verify that my windows forms application has access to the internet before it can do anything. Currently, the only way I can think of is by creating a HttpWebRequest and point it to the specified URL I wish to connect to later on, and if that throws an error, I know I don't have an internet connection. Is this the best method for detecting an internet connection, or is there some sort of routine that I need...

I'm having trouble finding example code to detect the presence of an Internet connection. It doesn't seem to be a very frequently asked question, as all I need is the answer yes or no (is the user connected or not). I'm not interested in speed detection or any other aspect of the connection, just its existence or not. The reason is to be able to intercept link clicks on a CD-based set of HTML pages and pop up a warning if there is no...

Hiya I have now managed to get my code to function correctly for a none present db, and one that is shutdown whilst it is being used. In both cases my code functions and happily recovers on the db's return. However one of the tests I performed was to kill -9 the postmaster process to see how it would handle that (assuming the same behaviour). However nothing happens! no segfault, no db connection failure etc. Also what is weird is...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
