MDI Parent Form / Modal Child Form...?

Ben
Please excuse if this ends up being a double post at some point. I
tried posting using another website which crashed, so I am not sure if
it will ever get posted. As such I decided to try again on another
site.

I am having a small problem that I am hoping someone might be able to
help me with. I am creating an MDI based application, where the
"Administrative " user will have the ability to click on a Menu Item to
display a form that lists all users and details on each user. This
form, named "Users and Passwords", I was hoping to keep within the
confines of the MDI Parent Form, but at the same time, disallow any
other form from gaining focus, as well as disallowing the user from
clicking onto the MDI Parent's Menu bar. In essence, I was hoping to
find a way to make a Modal, Child Form.

I know that this is something that is not natively possible, but I was
hoping that someone has a possible code workaround. After attempting
several methods, I even resigned myself to be content with using the
ShowDialog() method, using the MDI Parent as the Owner form in the
hopes to at least have the modal form start off centered within it's
owner. Unfortunately, the form constantly displays itself at the
Top-Left corner of the entire screen. And before someone suggests
using CenterScreen as the StartPosition, many of my users will be using
Dual Monitors, and that setting would cause it to display half on one
monitor and half on the other.

I know it seems a little petty on wanting the forms to display in such
a particular way, but I just like to make things look as professional
as possible. So if anyone knows how to make either a Modal MDI Child,
or how to center the form to its parent when it is set to Modal, please
let me know. :-)

Thank in advanced for any assistance.

The child form can be dragged out of the Parent form. I set the child form to IsMdiContainer = False and the Parent Form IsMdiContainer = True. I also coded in the Parent Form on load, Dim f As New frmEntryForm f.MdiParent = Me What am I missing? The child form appears not to be attached to the parent form.

Hello all, We have a main form. We have the message loop programmed to listen for 'key strokes' from a bar code scanner. But when the message loop 'hears' the keystrokes, we need to know if the main form has a child window (specifically a modal child window). Any ideas how we ask a form if it has any child windows? We've looked into...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. For...
