How to close a parent modal window when child modal window opens?

I need to know how to close a parent modal window when child modal
window opens, also i need to know the syntax for writing document on
the modal window on the fly, like what we do in case of normal window.

Actually, I tried to close the parent window from the child modal
window using
parent.close syntax in onload event in child modal window. It actually
closes the parent modal window, but the child modal window is not
opened, why it is so ?

please give me suggestion to do the same at the earliest

Thanks & Regards
Gopal

Click the 'x' button in the upper right.

What.. you mean you want to use JS to do that in *my* browser?
Leave my browser the heck alone. I'll close your dang window
when I feel like it, that's even assuming my pop-up blockers
allow the child window in the first place..
..also i need
'needy' person, aren't you? ;-)

Usenet does not work like that.

You get answers when (and if) others feel like answering.
Further, the suggestions might amount to "*Don't* do that".

I have a parent page with a number of child rows on it. When I press an onclick event on the parent page a child window opens and deletes the child data from the db table, then the child window passes back that row to the parent window. The child window open up using: mydeltaskwin = window.open(mycgi,'task_delete','width=800,height=400,top=50,left=50,scrollbars=no');

Hi There, I have a child window opened from aspx page using window.open. On the child window, I have a button(New category) which opens a grandchild. I also have a cancel button on the child window which when clicked should close the child and the granchild windows. Can anybody suggest me how this can be accomplished. I am using image buttons to do this. This is how I am implementing, but for some reason the 'win' is undefined.

Hi this is related to a previous post, hopefully just a bit clearer description o the problem. I have a parent form that opens a new form (child form) while still leaving the parent form open. Although the child form has a close button (with java script) if the user navigates the parent form to another form the child form is still open. Just wondering if there is a way to close the child form when the user navigates away with the parent...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
