Intercept Lost"focus" without losing focus...

Dear NG,

I created a gridlike usercontrol. When clicking on a cell a textbox (or
other control, depending on the cell's editortype) is shown. When some other
control gets the focus, the textbox is hidden. So far, no problem.
But when the textbox is visible and, for instance, I click on a
toolbarbutton, the textbox' Lostfocus event is not fired. The situation
should be that wherever I click, apart from the cell or textbox itself, the
textbox should be hidden.

Is there any message (and if so, which one) I can intercept from within the
usercontrol to get this Lostfocus-without-losing-focus-event?

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Sometimes when I try to close my managed C++ application, the following dialog displays in Win 2000 Pro: The title of the dialog is "Server Busy". The message is "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." I don't know why this is displayed. I would prefer to disable the display of this message if possible. My app needs to be able to...

I am struggling to catch kestrokes within an Internet Explorer 6 window. My window happens to be displaying three frames, though I suspect a similar problem would arise with a single document. The "<body.." tag in each frame includes an "onKeyPress" handler to catch and act on key presses. And if I focus the window by clicking on the content of one of the documents, keystrokes are sent to the handler on its "<body..." tag.

If my application doesn't have focus and someone clicks on the menu, the menu click is "lost" as the form gets focus, and the user then has to click on the menu a second time to actually activate the menu. Is there a way for this focus click to be ignored and the menu to respond immediately to the first click?

Sorry for the repost, but this group seems to be more "active" than the group that I posted my question, and it's probably as valid here as there! I have a usercontrol, which contains a textbox (as well as other controls). The textbox is set for multiline, so it *should* accept an Enter Key to move down to the next line. However, I'm finding that if I put the control onto a form which has a default Accept button set, then pressing...

Hello, IIRC, I once saw an explanation how Python doesn't have "variables" in the sense that, say, C does, and instead has bindings from names to objects. Does anyone have a link? Thanks, Ami

Hi, I'm getting an "Access is denied" error in IE when I try to focus an input box with node.focus() My understanding is that should only happen when the domains are different of the Javascript and the element that its trying to focus. It might be cross-frame, but everything comes from the same domain. The oddest part about this is that even though I get the "Access is

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
