The Microsoft update page scans my computer which has
Windos XP Home Edition. The website recommends
installing both DirectX 9.0A end-user runtime and Managed
DirectX.
The problem is I have successfully installed DirectX 9.0A
end-user runtime after which the Microsoft update scan
comes up with Managed DirectX as a final update needed.
Managed DirectX fails to install. It gives a message

I am each day becoming more and more addicted to the new .Net
framework because of its cool RAD facilities. However, performance and
speed is extremely important for my application development. I have
done many various tests to compare the performance speed of
applications written in C++ 6.0 V.S. the same ones in VB.Net or
VC#.Net . The result were quiet the same( i am not sure if i have go
the right path!). But I know C++ exe files use...

First of all, sorry for the cross-post. Seems like there should be a
managed directx newsgroup.
I'm trying to open the following sample application that comes with the
DirectX SDK.
C:\DXSDK\Samples\C#\AudioVideo\Bin\csAVPlayer.exe
It will not play some of the samples shipped with the SDK. It either
completey hangs the application (and I have to use Windows Task Manager to
kill it) or sometimes it displays an error message. Below...

This is probably not the most relevant NG for this topic, but if
someone could point me to a more relevant NG I would be forever
grateful.
I am having some issues with the Managed DirectX AudioVideoPlayer
namespace. All I am trying to do is play a video file on a secondary
video device in full screen. However, as soon as the form on the
secondary video looses focus, or as it would seem, the player sets
Video.Fullscreen to false. I tried...

This problem has been bugging me for a bit now: I recently purchased Visual
C# 2003 Standard and installed the DirectX 9 SDK (Summer 2004), and got along
fairly well looking over the samples and such, but no matter what I try I
cannot reference the DirectX assemblies through the Add Reference dialog (I
have them copied to another folder on my computer- they're also in
'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC\Microsoft.DirectX*\v*\' , but after reading for...

Hi all,
I'm looking for information on running a c# application on a webpage,
just like a java-applet.
And the second thing i'm looking for is information on how to display
3d graphics with c#. And if there are 3d model importers available for
it (like milkshape ms3d or something similar).
I'm not even sure if all this can be done, but if it can, i would like

Hi,
A friend of mine is in the process of building a 3d game engine using
native DirectX in C++. I would like to contribute to the development of
an editor for this engine, but I would prefer to develop it in C#. We've
discussed the possibility of creating a COM-based interface to the
engine that the editor could use from C#, and I think that would work
well for most tasks.
However, I'm not quite sure how I would go about developing a...

For all new desktop apps is managed/CLR recommended? I.e. Native MFC/Win32
not recommended in general for new desktop apps? Speaking in general, not
referring to exceptions (e.g. drivers)

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
